Anybody have an idea of the pulse of the PSU crowd for Saturday?  I don’t frequent opponents boards and haven’t seen any articles.  First game at home with an interim coach in a lost season.

Are we expecting the normal 100k fired up to beat #2 or  expecting some no shows and a no longer interested crowd?

For the record, I dont think it will matter much as I expect IU to play well once again.

I've never been impressed by a PSU noon crowd to begin with, let alone with how their year has gone. If it's not a whiteout (which...no one seems to talk about how they're just above .500 in those) that place isn't very menacing. The thing that concerns me at PSU is wind. It's an absolute wind tunnel in there, but the forecast isn't calling for much.

Went to actually check on the state of PSU fans. In a thread titled "Can PSU win 3 more games" we have this beauty:

And then last night someone said: "In a fascinating turn of events given what is happening tonight...this thread also applies to Penn State basketball"

So yeah, things aren't great up in the hills.

In other words ... these sh!tty teams really hate seeing Khobie Martin run off tackle for 15 yards a pop behind our backup offensive lineman in the fourth quarter. 'Cause it runs up the score. So does backup DB Reese recovering a fumble caused by backup DB Baldwin.

Exactly.  Guessing it has been discussed here but I haven’t posted much on this side so not aware- but the Cig running it up is such a false narrative by opposing fans and media in general.

We all watch so we know but just looking at the scoring of all the blowout games (no Iowa/Oregon), IU has a 4thQ scoring margin avg of 7 points. Seven.  In quarters 1-3, margin is over 35pts on avg. and mostly in quarters 2 and 3.

The backups play Q4, Fernando rarely, and mostly just run the ball.  IU has ONE passing touchdown in those games in the 4th and that was last week with 11min to go by Alberto.

What else do they want him to do? Take a knee for 15 minutes??

"Coach Cig is starting to rub many B1G programs and coaches the wrong way." LOL!

Welcome to our pain and suffering for the 100+ years prior to having an actual football coach.

Here's the thing though, I don't see our curb stomps as running up the score. We basically put it in cruise control once the game is in hand. Yeah we have the foot on the gas but it's not like IUFB is going full throttle. Breaking a team's will is something this coaching staff is accustomed to and coached to the players. Am I wrong?

He's been this way since day one. Break his opponent's will. Since day one.

Just for fun scoring by quarter for both us and our opponent.   Am I right that at least 2 of our games we scored a TD as the half ended and because we received to open the 3rd we opened the 3rd with another TD?

Oh dear lord.

If you close your eyes, you’d swear that the coach you’re listening to in this clip is Robert Montgomery Knight. Pretty much a dead ringer for RMK‘s philosophies and vocal inflection.

Coach Knight without the warts. If anything, he has softened a little over the years. CBK also said that opponent was the game and success meant playing the game as perfectly as possible. Cig is that guy too. I love the commitment to the process. What he preaches works in every walk of life. As long as he is here, IU football will be a problem for the rest of the country.

We didn't receive the second half kickoff against Maryland.

I truly believe that IU will do well in Happy Valley, But I have to say, I was fearing the worst after our first two possessions at Maryland. Thankfully that sorted itself out, but man was my mind racing to bad places.

Cig will get them right and ready and we will prevail.

Never daunted, we cannot falter. In the battle, we're tried and true!

For the record, I dont think it will matter much as I expect IU to play well once again.

FWIW the PSU fans on Rivals are expecting to get blown out, and are just waiting for the season to be over.

It will pale in comparison to the environment we encountered at Iowa and Oregon IMO.

I work with a PSU fan, he said "Mendoza can pretty much hit 13 any time he wants to on Saturday".

Tremendous sizable coaching advantage for IU vs Penn State. That’s the difference in a head coach and staff making the big money based on elite winning tradition vs a program in disarray led by assistant coach/coaches….Expecting a Penn State team in disarray to be exploited into a solid to big IU take no prisoners win.

It pretty much mirrors our basketball prowess over the past 15-20 years.

So glad that both football and basketball programs are back on the right track.

Basketball coach has an excellent resume that should work out well big time for IU basketball program.

However, the football program thus far is a steaming at a high rate of speed locomotive speeding down the tracks.
IU men’s basketball is just starting to leave the train station….. good start doing what they are supposed to do beating up an Alabama A& M team.

How much dope before kick-off did you have?  I try not to wake and bake on GameDays so early.  lol

FOX will have its top crew of Gus Johnson, Joel Klatt & Jenny Taft on the call for Big Noon Saturday’s Indiana–Penn State broadcast. It’s IU’s 2nd FOX game and 4th national TV appearance in 5 weeks (CBS twice).

And for the 1,000th time from every long timer…….this is the most surreal feeling

every weekend I turn on my TV and a I see IU football being televised nationally, kickoff shows on campus…. This is the most awesome alternate universe ever!
