This may be my favorite message board post of the night, and it’s from an Illinois fan on an Illinois board. This Illini fan was at the game. His impressions:

IMG_5033.jpeg

Haven’t been to a game at Illinois in over 10 years so I don’t have that to compare it to, but I’ve been to a lot of games at a lot of different places and for a basketball school we absolutely know how to bring it. That game tonight was miles louder and more energetic than the CFP game.

But for the love of Cig/God/whoever you believe in we have got to fix the stadium sound system for 2026. It is abysmal.

I say this absolutely serious.  If we beat Oregon or Penn State and repeat the 11-1 year. We absolutely have to pay Coach more money. Some people came sniffing last year. But Alabama very well could be sniffing this year

That’s a big “if” (OSU lost at Oregon last year), but if that happens I’ll guarantee you at least one big boy, probably the aforementioned Alabama, will throw a blank check at him.

At that point, I would just hope we make enough noise in the playoffs that Cig feels like he can win it all here.

It’d be a good problem to have tho.

The Daily Hoosier -

Morning ESPN FPI update: Indiana moved up 10 spots to No. 6 following their 63-10 win over Illinois. FPI gives them a 78.4% chance to beat Iowa.

ESPN's sports book also has IU as a 2.5 favorite on the road vs. the Hawkeyes.

Illinois yesterday was the IU football we suffered through for too many games over too many seasons.

Yup. Overmatched on both lines and just taken to the woodshed by much of the conference because of it.

From Big Ten Football

Fernando Mendoza in a red Indiana football uniform with the number 15, holding a football in a throwing position. An inset image shows a player in a black Ohio State uniform with the number 7. The text overlay reads "FERNANDO MENDOZA IS THE FIRST BIG TEN QB TO THROW AT LEAST 4 TDS IN THREE STRAIGHT GAMES SINCE OHIO STATE\'S C.J. STROUD IN 2022." A "BIG 10" watermark is present.

He was excellent and had a couple big time throws. That one for a TD in the red zone where he threw it to the back of the end zone over a guy dropped in zone coverage was a dime.

I can see why at least the one publication has him listed as the top QB drafted next year.

Love this opening statement from Bielema here, and what this implies about Cig, the program and leadership.

Last night was "big time" football.  If you had told me as a student when the school was handing out tickets to Freshman for free and we were winning 2 to 3 games a year that we would ever be a "big time" football program in my lifetime, I would have asked for some of what you were smoking.

Amazing what a competent staff, commitment from the school, and the leveling of the pay to play playing field cand do for a program.

Watched SECPN College Football Final fully expecting them to somewhat dismiss IU’s win as a victory over an overrated Illinois team.

I was wrong. Much to my surprise they were very complimentary including Joey Galloway who didn’t believe in IU pretty much all last year. No mention of the schedule etc but rather just listed positives including saying we could likely be better than last year.

Very nice/surprising to hear.

Iowa is the next “must-win game” (LOL) in order to keep positive momentum and narrative.  We are in great shape if we beat Iowa and then beat, or are very competitive against, Oregon.
