People are desperate after the last 2+ decades. We want to latch on to anything that might feel like we're turning this thing around. It just kind of goes as part of the human condition where most people want something to believe in.

I don't doubt our insiders/those with connections were posting with conviction. They were given information from people they trust, and subsequently stepped out on the limbs to share with us. The only real troll in here was Isaac, AKA Cheese (on X).

Weren't you the one who assured us we would be happy with the hire?

You may be the most upset of anyone. I get it we didn't land a big fish. But we got a decent coach and didn't hire Randy Wittman or Brownell.

That was $17M in basketball spending, not NIL. Recruiting costs, salaries, etc. NIL isn't university money so that probably wasn't factored in.

Part nostalgia for the past, part ego, part believing the program is bigger than it is, part just being desperate for a winner. same with anything in life where people have a feeling of helplessness, they latch onto the biggest promises they’re being told.

BS  - Crean was always a clown.  Airballed a free throw on live TV in Maui.  Never played ball past middle school.  Syracuse game EXPOSED him - it wasn’t the beginning of the end.  Any good IN high school coach would have known to flash CZ instead of running him along the baseline or planting him in the paint.
