That's quite a list for a mid major guy who averaged 9.6 and 6.  Did average 10.3 points and 7.7 rebounds in three games against Gonzaga and was only a freshman.  Have to assume with that offer list he has a really high ceiling.

Good rim #s, promising from 3, was 129 on the 247 composite, huge defensive box plus/minus (haven’t seen him nor read a scouting report). I’m intrigued!

What’s the scoop on Tre Singleton.  4* kid whose coach seemed to be a flight risk this off-season all while the state school has a new coach. Any potential for him to consider a change?

 Northwestern was 4 deep at the state tourney to watch him.  Doubt he reconsiders

We are gonna have to land some dudes by the end of this.  If the portal ends up like the coach search we are all going to need summer to recover from our disappointments.  Conwell would hurt. Wonder what our 3rd and 4th options look like?

Hope DDV has more than one “shooting guard” in mind in the portal. Conwell’s already familiar with Miller’s system and how he’d be used in it, and UT can easily match any $$$ offer IU makes. If Conwell would prefer staying closer to home, great. If not, I hope DeVries has some additional portal shooters on his list.

A Kid from SoCal with inquiries from USC, UCLA, other west coast schools plus Arizona and Arizona State feels like a pretty dicey proposition o get to Bloomington, IN. But we shall see.

If I remember correct, DeVries had 2 SoCal kids committed to play for him at WVU.

Seems like SoCal is an area he likes to recruit for whatever reason. Must have good connections there or something.

I get it, but most on here were ready to hand us the Big Ten trophy after last off season. Personally, I'm not getting too hung up on stars. Seems like DD has a plan and knows what he's looking for, instead of just stars after their names. 80+% of the roster will likely be portal players next year. While it's a necessity next season, it's not a good long term plan, and from what I've seen and heard, not what DD wants either. IMO, you want to get dudes, but dudes that fit with the team culture that he is looking to establish. I'd rather give up a few wins next year if it means building for long-term success.

Yea, Woody left a tire fire behind for CDD and we're going to be heavy in the portal.  The one year eligibility portal guys are effective players, and they can help win games which the program needs to get back on the CBB map, but they aren't around long enough to help build program culture/identity, which is vital.  Hopefully we can get a few portal guys with multiple years of eligibility, I really like that sweet spot of experience and potential to be around a few years.

After a few years we can get high school recruiting and high school player development up and running -- then we can get that balance of high school and portal where most players are in the program for multiple years and we've got a strong culture/identity going.

Cig said same thing -- he doesn't prefer to be so portal heavy like he has been and he would like more high school recruits developed in the program.  This is the key in CFB -- the best teams develop high school talent in their program a fill a few areas of need with portal guys.  But, Cig is dealing with the same issue in that high school recruiting and player development takes time.

We'll see how it goes, again Woodson left CDD with just a mess of a roster.

I think most were rightly skeptical last year because of who was coaching. I’d argue that roster construction last year was at least good enough for solidly in the tourney. But Woody… 

 

I’m not exactly sure how you build for future success outside of high school recruiting. Any young portal guys you bring in ought to be players.  
 

I’m not worried about the roster at all. It really shouldn’t be that hard to win now and still keep an eye on the future. UM, UK, and Lville provide a nice illustration of that.

True, the 2 SoCal Academy kids. Pretty sure Odih is actually from the east coast and just playing there but MacLean is definitely from California.

Not sure where you get the impression “we are all” unhappy with how the coach search went. If the portal goes like the coach search went I think the majority of folks will be thrilled with the roster.
