cleeter Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Good win. Happy for the guys. Couldn’t help but enjoy the CBS commentary over the B1G network guys. Saying this in all earnest. Lots of criticism here regarding the BOT. I would love to see one of you guys who are their biggest critics run for a trustee spot. The window is open. You have until April 1 to get your nomination in. Do a search and you’ll see what the criteria are. Time for one of you to make your mark. Time for one of you to do something about what you’re criticizing. Good luck. You need 200 signatures among other things. I will be glad to sign for you.So I have complained about the administration here, so I fall into that category. Using your logic, am I allowed to complain about President Biden? Or since I’ve never put myself in the race to become president, am I not allowed to complain about him? I do believe that you’re saying that their job is hard and a lot more to the job than what couch coaches like me even know. That is true. I think complaining about the decisions this administration has made in the past is fair. The bigger the job, the more people will care, the more people that care, more complaining can happen. Chris has hinted he was told he’d get 4 years at one point and the entire approach seems pretty near-sighted; he’s not offering many ‘26s or beyond (recall Crean offering lots of underclassmen, for example). The contract sort of implies that, too, even with the raise the buyout/length didn’t change (and buyout drops to 50% remaining $ owed on 4/1/25). 3. I do wonder if at this point he’s realizing the job is a bit different than he anticipated. No one doubts he wants to succeed OR that he loves IU, maybe he rides off into the sunset to spend time with his new grand baby. He could leave on a high note, program better than he found it, and someone else could level it the rest of the way up. 4. I didn’t make this explicit but I would also guess that if he's retained, the offseason conversation this year would make expectations clear, and due to the contract details mentioned above, it gets a LOT cheaper to move on then. 5. next year is also about the time he’d want an extension if he’s gonna continue, as he’d be down to 3 years left on the original 7 year contract. Would guess there’s no such extension forthcoming unless it’s a Harbaugh-in-2020 type thing where it’s actually easier and or cheaper for both parties to move on in the future. (E.g. if IU is 26-5 next year and he doesn’t plan to hang ‘em up, tack on a year or # but do do so with heavy incentives so you’re not paying a guy to retire when you also have to go out to pay his replacement.) Woodson’s original contract was 6 years @ $3 million a year. I don’t think the $1 million annual raise included an extension of the contract’s overall length, but iirc it did extend the length of the “100% guaranteed” term of the buyout by an additional year.

To me it was encouraging that at first Coach Cig turned them down but they were willing to go higher on the total compensation. Whiten vetoed Dolson’s first choice for the football job. It’s good that she doesn’t hate sports like the last President, but I wouldn’t count on her being anything more than a neutral factor when it comes to sports. Kentuckysucks and MemphisHoosier 2

Woodson has failed to show any progress as a coach in 3 years. I have zero confidence he’ll be able to land great portal kids. Tbf, we beat the worst team, the 2 nd worst team and the 3rd worst team on the road. Plus we occasionally beat ourselves. Safe to say we’re the best bad team. FWHoosier84, thebigweave and Trish 3

Rattling off a few wins against weaker opponents does NOT buy him more time, but it does allow him to leave on a high-note. This. Right. Here. The guy is a legend of the program. One of the greatest IU players ever. As much as some seem eager to, inexplicably, dance on his grave, this is exactly how it needs to go. A dignified retirement with a couple of tourney bids and the gold watch of a respectable end of season stretch. I also want it for the kids. 94Bulldog, BtownStrength, Home Jersey and 14 others 17
