It really does sound like IU is Pearl's dream job. Look at what he said about IU before they played Auburn back in December. Also, I don't ever really remember Rabby being that bold saying what he said about Pearl wanting the job..He never did that with Stevens or even Woodson and Miller.

1) We could get Pearl
2) he would love the job
3) he is our number #1
4) we have no issue with his baggage.

Add all that up and what do you get…..

An IU winning streak and woody getting the 2025 season to figure it out*

Even though even if we win a few games, that shouldn’t matter with the whole situation, but you know.

You rarely get the ideal coach at the perfect timing. Alabama hired Oats from Buffalo after a few good years.  Tennessee hired Pearl from Milwaukee.  A good AD should be able to project how a mid-major coach would project at his school with the improved resources.  Glass missed on Archie.  Fred Glass was a lawyer.  Dolson has been around basketball for a long time.  He should be able to be able to properly project how a mid-major coach could do at IU with our resources.

Sadly, UK and Calipari was like a match made in Heaven when it occurred. I live on the Kentucky border and am married to a Kentucky girl so you can imagine how fun the past 15 years has been for me.

I think if you are Pearl, it isn't about the money- you have plenty. Kids are grown up (assumption?). You only live once and if you have a chance to land your dream job....why the f not? I'm not all in on Pearl but I wouldn't be upset.

But what does this mean tho?  Does that mean there is plan in place to move forward from Woodson after this season?   Or is this just a "plan" for some time in the future when they finally decide to move on?

Wouldn't you feel better about hiring Dusty May after seeing him coach and recruit in major college basketball first? If he takes the Miami job and flames out in 4 years aren't you going to be happy it was down there and not up here? If IU is Dusty May's "dream job" he'll take it whenever it's offered. Why not get as much experience as possible beforehand?

Chris isn't going to give information he isn't comfortable giving out.  That said, if it were a "plan" for some time in the future when they finally decide to move on, that isn't really something that would newsworthy for Chris to post.
