Unpopular opinion—I’d rehire Coach Crean if he could fix roughly 3 things.

1) set schedule/normality in routine

2) warmer personality/less difficult to work with administratively

3) less awkward/more successful high school relationships and recruiting.

I’d accept some of the ups and downs and I think those steps above would resolve some of those issues. How many of us miss watching a team that could shoot?

Lots of red flags with him -- his disastrous tenure at Georgia being one.

Kind of a shame that he couldn't get those things fixed earlier, because despite all his quirks, he seems like a decent enough dude. And despite his somewhat acrominous split with us -- it seems pretty obvious that he still loves the place.

This thread should be smooth sailing from here on out.  Seems like everyone is on the same page.   No need to  call anyone out anymore.    It’s over for Woodson.    While some might not agree on how some post about the firing everyone wants the same thing moving forward.     This should be the easiest thread to moderate moving forward

The whole fanbase is unified again!!!!

I saw somewhere that the students plan to boycott the next home game against Maryland, so I guess we’ll see if that ends up happening or not.

As tremendous as that would be, I don't have a ton of confidence in the follow thru

I’m pretty sure the under 8 timeout has like 20 red flags so he’s in good company…

but seriously I do not envy Scott Dolson in the slightest. But since he found Cignetti who resurrected Lazarus (IU Football) he’s earned my trust. As long as he doesn’t rehire Sampson.

There is no rational reason to let Woodson keep coaching.

The damage from the visual of fans either not showing up or leaving…The damage from hearing the fire Woodson chants… the damage of the visual of a coach who shows no energy or emotion to lead the team… the damage of the visual of a team who knows the coach is gone, and plays like it… All of this played out by the national media.

All would have a much larger and worse impact on the program than if administration would just rip the bandage off, take the short term criticism of the Wilborns of the world, and move forward.
Winning games the rest of this season is secondary to reestablishing the pride and status of what IU basketball used to be

Don’t understand why folks would want a guy like Sampson or Wade.

I get that what they did “then” is legal now.

But if a guy was willing to break the rules that were in place at the time, wonder if he’d break the rules that exist now?

To be fair, and in my opinion, if Sampson were still at IU we'd have at least 2 more banners. Ethics is not his strong suit. Coaching is.

Unfortunately I think we have a group of guys that just want their paychecks. They could care less about IU.

Is there any way to make NIL performance based? That would be nice.

The problem is that this is a bastardization of what NIL is supposed to be. NIL = NAME, IMAGE, LIKENESS... they are supposed to be doing stuff to earn this money (endorsements, public appearances, etc)... instead, the schools have turned it into "payroll" for playing a sport. With the lack of accountability comes the lack or responsibility... and mayhem rules the day.

I think part of it is figuring out who the interim coach will be. I’m sure there are a few coaches who want it. It could lead to big money at their next job if they get us playing well. Then does Jordy Or Calbert move up. How do we make it a smooth transition. Things like that.

So if they are to the point of figuring out who the interim will be, is it safe to say it’s certain he will be gone way before the season is over and we don’t have to wonder if he’ll get to try and ride out the season? I’d most definitely rather find out he’s leaving than getting an announcement of some sort saying he’s retiring after the conclusion of the season.
