I think a large part of the delay from the university is the crap that Woodson pulled with the "I'll retire", goes home and gets his @$$ handed to him by his wife, comes back to Dolson and says "screw you, I quit"... The longer this goes with crickets from IU, has me leaning towards a scenario where we were caught with our pants down and unprepared for this leaking yesterday, and we are now scrambling. A parting gift from Quinn and Mike.
HoosierMatty Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Doesn't Woodson have a media interview today because of tomorrows game? If Indiana doesn't release something before hand then Woodson will definitely be asked about it. Or is the intention to announce it during the interview? This seems all a little messy. Especially if Woodson is being difficult about this. I don't think Indiana would want him behind a mic. tkbbn, akumanina and Iufan93 3

Also, he likely did say "I quit", but was so pi$$ed that he wanted to try to figure out a way to drag this out and make his on exit strategy. Hornsby Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 That's the real issue where I sit. The man has such a huge ego that he cannot see the big picture. He needs an intervention by those who really care about him, including his family and his buddies Quinn, Isiah, Wittman, Ferguson, etc... he's quickly becoming a national laughing stock... and all of these people who claim to love Indiana University are doing him and his reputation/legacy and the reputation of IU are doing him a huge disservice... it's like they're trashing the university and Woodson himself for their entertainment... and/or to "stick it" to the fanbase. I get it that Buckner only has a few months left, but can we initiate a recall or impeachment effort against him. He needs to go, too. The problem is quinn and ferguson who don't love the university imo still think he can probably turn this around. These are arrigant entitled brats. They are having a temper tantrum. These are very arrogant people. It's going to get ugly and it should. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk tkbbn 1
HoosierCoop Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 Normally if a player is marked questionable relating to injury or illness, it's always a game time decision to see if they will make it in the starting line-up or even play at the next game. Not at IU, we are looking to see if the coach will make it to the sidelines or not.

These things are a lot more complicated than just saying “ you’re fired” as he’s leaving before the normal conclusion of his contract. And who knows where the origination of the word discussion came from? More likely, it was the ‘media’s’ way of being vague and not erroneously reporting facts. As for who knows where the origin of the word “discussion” comes from or the idea Woody is “contemplating” retiring … yes, likely a degree of media not erroneously reporting. But also this was all just smoke from burners before Goodman jumped in with that wording and everyone else piled on. It could be just as simple as that, it could also be that Mike’s camp got ahead of all the rumors and said he’s “contemplating” it to make it look like he’s not getting fired. And if he doesn’t finish at end of season, as is “currently expected” while the “terms of exit are negotiated” then it will be obvious Dolson canned him. Been a lot of talk about wanting to avoid those optics, for obvious reasons. Bottom line IMO: the “contemplating” narrative is only helpful to one side and it’s not IU SlammySammy, tkbbn and AZ Hoosier 3

This includes Woodson and Buckner and Knight. Maybe point out bad decisions, but why toss old players under the bus? Even if they are doing crappy jobs in our opinions, say that. Otherwise, it really is petty and seeking some sort of retribution. Oh well. MHO. Yes, I've seen it said in here that there should be special places in hell for those involved. Seen Woodson called a POS. I stated for a while that I am in favor of Woodson being terminated. I also stated that I wouldn't be involved in any sort of character assassination. No need to go down that road, imo. Only makes the poster(s) and this forum look bad. cthomas, thebigweave and Dave from Dayton 2 1

I think we could get some sort of formal release today, but wouldn’t be shocked if this drags into next week as agents and lawyers hash out money and wording. Even beyond that, IU still has a month of the regular season left, and then add at least a week for the B1G tournament, more if they rally or make the NIT or something (I don’t expect it). Woody was hired 13 days after Archie was fired. Cignetti was hired 4(!) days after Allen was fired. With the trade deadline in the past, if it’s Brad, I do wonder if we’d hear formal reporting about meetings or negotiations, unlike last cycle, just from the standpoint that he could theoretically line up the job before mid-March (and surely Dolson’s goal would be sooner is better). Obviously I know that trustworthy folks here will be able to make reference to things that can’t be reported yet, but a long timeline like this is somewhat unusual in general, and at IU in particular, at least in recent years. That is a great question. I don't have an answer either but am curious about what the time line is. Hoosierfanyuh, kottke and lillurk 3
