Haven't posted much about Indiana basketball since this season has been so depressing. Anyone else give up hope after the Louisville game? That's where I am at. I really dislike saying this but this team is so hard to root for. As much as I'm over Woodson, I'm easily over the players An incredibly entitled group. Ballo, Galloway, Leal, Goode, Mgbako, Reneau. Over them all. Have zero idea what happens between now and the end of the season but I hope this: 

1) Woodson and every single assistant coach are gone. Need to clean house. Woodson kept too many Archie hires around. Next coach doesn't need to keep any of these guys around. 

2) A heavy majority of the players are gone. I'd like to see Rice with a competent staff and Tucker stick around. 

Blow it up. At this point, I'm not sure I even care who the coach is. Mark Pope and Pat Kelsey didn't seem like home run hires. Both programs are doing well so far. Just give me someone that lives and breaths college hoops 365/24/7. Give me someone who will hold the players accountable. Brad Stevens, Bruce Pearl, Ben McCollum, Dusty May...I don't care. It should not be that hard to turn this freaking program around. Let Dolson do his job and I'm confident he can find the right guy. 

I always think there is a moment when you know the coach you have isn't the right guy. I knew Crean would never win here after the Syracuse loss. Just knew he would never have a team that talented again. For Archie it was his second year when they went on that insane losing streak. He lost the team. For Woodson, it was going 0 for 5 on Fland, McNeeley, Queen, Harralson, and Mullins. No matter how nice it looked, you can't build a team on transfers. 

I hope better days are ahead. BTW I'm in the camp of let Woodson finish this mess. I'm a Cowboys fan. Dallas went 5-3 when Jason Garrett took over as interim coach and for some reason let him stick around 6 years too long...Let's say Rosemond takes over and by some chance they go on some type of run and then decide to hire him. Ask Texas and OSU  (in the NFL the Raiders too) how they feel about their interim coaching hires. No thanks.

The two concepts don’t have to be exclusive of each other.

Why would I want B to happen when it decreases the likelihood of A happening? He got a million dollar raise for making the tournament. Two years later he’s going to get fired for making it?

The IU administration has given us zero reason to trust it to do the right thing. From hiring Woodson in the first place, giving him a fat raise for making the tournament, and then bringing him back for a fourth season. The administration has made the wrong move every step of the way. Why believe it’ll be any different now? The team needs to bottom out to leave no doubt of a change.

I think the staff beLieves they go 2-0 this week. Next week is an 0-2 week so they better go 2-0. IMO, nothing happens in season unless the wheels completely fall off. I DO believe Woody will be done this off-season regardless. Gonna be an interesting 2 months. Transfer portal season will be top notch with about 10 spots to fill. Lol.

That’s exactly what it is because they don’t trust QBall and Ferguson to not influence the situation for another year.  The fans don’t trust either one of them to do the right thing for the university and they don’t trust that the administration will allow Dolson to make AD decisions!

Since Woodson is his godson, I think that’s what we all heard, I kind of understand that.  But the guy has way too much influence in the basketball program and he shouldn’t

All programs have these types of people around. IU’s are just idiots.  
 

Knight had such complete control of the program that when he was fired it created a power vacuum that has never shaken out in any meaningful way to allow a few competent stewards to oversee the program. Brand, Glass, Gonzo, Fuergeson, Buckner, et al…they all have the basketball sense of a 25lb dumbbell. Some people seemed convinced Dolson is that guy and the timing is right for him to assume nearly complete control. I hope that’s true. Given our history I will continue to take a wait and see posture.

.....sooooo, what happens if we lose at Northwestern Wednesday? More excuses, or results?

Captain Obvious here......,I think at this point, Dolson is looking at the quality of play, coaching decisions and overall, continued improvements.

I get that it's hard to pull the plug on a coach after are win on the road, but Coach Woodson and the boys have a lot to prove Wednesday night. If we lose, it puts a ton of pressure on us winning at home Sunday vs. Maryland.

Does Woodson even make it to Sunday if we lose? It all comes back to effort and quality of play. I really think it depends on how we perform overall vs. Northwestern. If we just don't show up, that just may do it for Coach Woodson. Who knows..... Anyway you look at it, there have been too many chances to make improvements.

I keep hearing that Dolson will be the guy who will finally be left alone to make this decision, with the IU’s president backing him.  But I am of the wait and see approach too!  Matter, I have to see it to believe it.  I still have this feeling that QB, Ferguson and MW won’t go quietly into the Bloomington night!  
 

To add one more thing!  I thin it would show good faith and we would have confidence in Dolson if he were to make some type of announcement that there will be changes at the end of the year.  Right all we hear are crickets!

Although not at the Illinois game I can’t get the images of the boos, “Fire Woodson clap clap clap clap”, the students leaving in mass, and the sad almost empty Hall several minutes before the game ended, out of my head. I attended IU the four years before RMK and I’ve never seen anything like it.  I also remember they gave up the opportunity to host the first round of NIT in Crean’s last year because they didn’t want the world to see the hostility of the crowd.  I think the win at OSU won’t move the needle that much.  Even if we win at Northwestern I expect some boos and a light crowd.  However a loss at Northwestern could real ugly again.  Just my 2 cents, but I think they could be sweating about the Maryland game up in the Ivory tower.

One thing that might throw a wrinkle in effort, Quality of play and improvements and that is the possible return of Malik Reneau.  Everyone knows if he returns, Woodson will automatically go back to starting 2 bigs and the offensive flow and movement will definitely take a hit!
