    Transfer Portal w IU Interest

My Mom died from Hodgkins when I was 5. He just became my favorite player ever, here's hoping he's a Hoosier soon!
  2. Awesome news! I'm surprised he didn't test the NBA but really glad he's coming back. Maybe Woody told him what to work on to improve his stock, like he did TJD.
  3. Galloway out tonight per Hummel

    NCAA MBB Transfer Portal

John Wayne said it way before that in the movie "She wore a yellow ribbon". One of my favorite lines but it doesn't work at all in my house! In fact it's probably the exact opposite :-)
  5. just go to Ware every time from now on
  6. Even with a 17 pt lead early we all knew this was coming, we've seen this movie many times
  7. So, what if we send the War and Basketball X to everyone in the portal. Anyone that would still be willing to come here would have to be really tough sons of b****s and not afraid of anyone or the coaches. Might still not be a very good team but but fun to watch. ;-)
  8. If you have any of that bourbon left, or even a beer, Hair of the dog is the way to go. However, just the hair, not the whole dog! lol. And well, after the game win or lose, you may want the whole dog then...
  9. Woody played under RMK, played and coached in most major cities in the country. I’m sure the abuse he has endured his entire career has given him a very thick skin. He probably forgot about it by the time the guy walked away. The money is great but I believe when he said this was his dream job he meant it. He’s always loved IU and RMK and stayed in contact with him right up until the end. I believe he wanted badly to hang that banner he never got to as a player. This job simply isn’t working and deep down I believe he knows it but can’t accept it yet. I really hope Dolson pulls the trigger after this season, it would be better for everyone. I would like to believe Woody will accept it and not fight it. A public fight would be yet another black eye for IU and tarnish his legacy. Time to move on. Bring on Brucie….
  10. I totally get it. Been driving since I was 15 1/2 and been a car guy all my life. So as Charlton Heston would say, "They have to take those keys away from my cold dead hands!" lol
  11. No, I think you're right. He did say something about watching him as a player. Maybe it was the guy himself? :D
  12. Regarding the punk kid who called out Woody at the HS game. I really think it's his fault the program is in such bad shape. I'm pretty sure it must have been his dad who was a student at the time uttered the infamous words "Hey Knight" which was the event that started this train wreck of a program! (Just kidding, sort of)
  13. So no surprise why he never recruited any Indiana kids in 3 years. I guess it's a lot easier to just watch videos of portal players while smoking cigars and drinking wine.
  14. I can't imagine he can even see much of the players sitting on the end of the floor like that. No one would give Woody a seat somewhere around mid court?
  15. Yep graduated in 71. Been watching this forum for years but too busy to post and engage. However now retired and have a little more time. And so frustrated with the state of the program. Loved Willkie Quad then, guess it's changed a lot by now.
  16. LMAO, perfect responses for both UK and UL. Best thing about the Cards this year is UK and the Media is so hard on them, nobody is talking much about us, except us!
  17. I'm all for it, where's the Go Fund Me account? (And I loved him as a player, as a coach, not so much)
  18. Haha, I got that analogy thinking about my Kentucky relatives. It's been tough being around them at family get togethers the last few years, but all I have to do to change the conversation is bring up "The Wat Shot". That gets them riled up every time, still haven't gotten over that, LOL
  19. That was a great 29 years. We expected to win every game, especially Wisconsin, Penn State, etc. Beat Michigan's Fab Four 3 or 4 times. So many great games. Watching this mess since then is like dating the hottest girl in school, then she dumps you and goes to prom with your best friend. Then they're voted King and Queen, and you have to go the prom with your sister!
  20. To misquote the late Toby Keith "I'm not as wrong as I once was, but once I'm as wrong as I ever was"....
  21. I’ve heard it mentioned many times that the one reason Buckner and the donors would give Woody another year is that they consider this year a fluke. But in reality it’s the two previous years that were flukes, imo, this year is the new normal. When I saw Trayce, Race, Jalen and Miller at the Nebraska game last week it became clear for me. Trayce was the leader. Many games he basically willed us to win. I loved it when we made a great play the crowd went wild and he did the raise the roof move. I also remember after a particular bad game he called the team together for a players only meeting and they responded after that. There’s no longer any team chemistry or leadership on this team. This year woody had to build a new team with portal players and freshmen. This is the way it’s going to be every year with him, he just doesn’t have it. I loved him as a player but that was long, long ago and just proves there is a huge difference between coaching College and NBA. I sure do miss those guys from last year. The sweep of Purdue seems so long ago. IU, do the right thing, Woody gotta go. Do it respectfully before his legacy is tarnished beyond repair. Go IU
  22. So it's a good thing these forums weren't around in '71. Can you imagine the posts when IU hired this young unknown Army coach that emphasized defense to coach the "Hurryin Hoosiers"? No proven P5 record. Not an IU guy. But there was a lot of media and fan criticism. One of the local burger chains gave out free burgers to fans at the games when IU held the opposing team to under 50 pts. Haha fun times. And that worked out pretty well. Wish we could do that again.
  23. This is not the Mike Woodson I remember. I graduated the year before RMK was hired and enjoyed 29 years of great basketball and great players. That Mike Woodson was one of my all time favorite players. He was humble, hardworking, appreciative of the opportunity to play basketball for IU and RMK. He could score from anywhere on the court, and was relentless. He came back from back surgery in the same season and promptly hit his first six shots and won the Big Ten MVP that season. I don’t know this Mike Woodson. I didn’t follow him in the NBA but he had a long career so I thought he must have done pretty well for himself. Somewhere along the line he changed, or maybe someone stole his identity? Maybe he wanted to relive his glory years. I don’t know what happened but this is a different Mike Woodson. I was surprised when I heard about the hire, but hoped for the best. He was a great player and learned from the best so maybe he would restore IU to the top and hang another banner. This is not him. I don’t know what happened to him along the way but the Mike Woodson I remember wouldn’t allow the program to be the embarrassment of the Big Ten. Nothing I’ve seen in 3 years suggest he can turn this ship around. Mike needs to retire like I did and let it go. And it makes me sad. Go IU

    Strictly Hypothetical

As been mentioned, KL was basically a HS senior this past season. Experience, better coaching and time in the weight room will probably see a big improvement in him this coming season. Having said that, with the talent we appear to have now, I wouldn't be surprised if we have several guys with around 20 mins a game. And I think that would be a good thing. Depth should be strength this year.
