There is pretty much nothing he can say that will come off well when things slide this badly.

I've got to do better.  I need to make sure that we're better prepared.

I’ll be honest… I think the Dusty May thing makes too much sense. He won’t have a roster next year at FAU. The timing is right.

BUT…. I’m afraid he ain’t the guy either. The B1G will eat him alive.

Oh well. Both likely scenarios don’t give me hope.

I fear, May is the give him time candidate. He will try to build and figure out B1G winning for 3 years or so with middling results. Then……..

While this might end up being true, I would gladly give Dusty a grace period (maybe not 3 sh*t years) if it means we pull the plug on Woodson before this gets worse. Dusty, I believe, could at least make early headway with local recruits.

It points to the fact that he's clueless... if this is the best he can do, let's just pack it in... these have been his excuses as far back as I can remember, but he's done nothing to try to remedy the situation... that's the main job of a coach - to teach, to identify problems and fix 'em... but he just wants to complain and not do anything to improve the situation.

Agree totally. Seen no evidence he can actually coach this team up at all. No evidence the staff can coach this team up at all. I’d give anything to get Cheaney’s thoughts and others. You know they can’t be happy with things as they are. I think they’re handcuffed by Woody.

I don't want Dusty and I have no appetite for waiting, but the excitement of a new coach/no more Mike Woodson would be enough of a dopamine hit to last me... until our first loss, lol.

The B1G kind of sucks right now. Might not be a bad time to bring him into it.

Sitting here putting off some work I need to get done... Why don't reporters ever ask Woodson the important questions? It's always what went wrong tonight, what can you do to get the team turned around. What I want to know is if tonight is a red or a white night for Woody, and if tonight is a dry or a sweet night.

Sure. But it wouldn’t make a whit of difference.

The train is completely derailed and that’s the fact that matters.

Wait, so you want them to ask Woodson a question about something that he actually knows something about? #mindBlown

Such a parallel to IU football tradition that is becoming the IU basketball tradition.  For many of the seven decades I have followed IU football I remember often thinking to myself it can’t get more worse than it is.  And yet it would often get worse.

Now and for along time now IU basketball it can’t get any more worse than it is but it continues to get worse.  Wisconsin, teams like Nebraska and Penn State would hardly ever beat IU especially at home going back 3 or 4 decades but it has become a regular occurrence with insignificance in any kind of post season.

Not picking on you but at IU in the era of free transfers no one should be the “give him time” candidate for very long.

If you start with a totally blank slate in a sanction situation? Sure, but by year two we should see something. Same if you inherit a really barren cupboard, and have to play too many green underclassmen.

But nothing like what Arch inherited should be an excuse.

Stop the Pearl talk — he’s 3 years younger than Woody. One middling year and we’re right back here, worried about succession plans. Plus he makes more than IU currently pays its coach. You hire a coach for his future, not his past.

Can we hire a coach for his past and his future? Any of those unicorns out there haha
