After doing Shrine stuff for 8 days, should have posted the fundraiser here....... Coach Woodson defending MM as a freshman. Yup. He sure is. A 5 star freshman. Meanwhile, Stanford trots out a 3 star freshman. 3. Star. And he has 947 points.. My reason for not flowing recruiting? Right here. MM played a great game. Flashes of things to come.

FIVE AND ONE BAYBEEEEEEE!!!!

Yeah, that's the thing with this team. They're not playing great, but at least they are still winning. I had a bad feeling about this game coming into it, but they managed to pull out the win. Not sure this is sustainable going into conference play though.

While watching, it was obvious that Gunn didn't play much, but did I miss something as to why? (I know the existing issues, but was something else up? Sick, injured?) D@mn I need to watch it again, things are still fuzzy for some reason.

Not sure that anything happened other than it has been very obvious that while Gunn can use his athleticism to guard someone 1 v 1, when that same player is moving off the ball he loses them. While he can get out in a fast break on offense, he is the worst shooter on the team.

he has moments that make some excited but they are few and far between. Maybe he gets there later in the year or in future years but he is not ready to contribute big to a winning team.

Man, I loved his enthusiasm on that play! He seems to be getting more and more aggressive each game.....

We were hopeful but weren't sure what player we were getting in Ware. We know now. He's outstanding, our best player, he -- presumably with staff's help -- found his hustle and focus. NBA first-rounder (as was originally assumed) for sure, we're lucky to have him.

Just saw the play were X possibly aggravated his left ankle/foot. It was the NBA continuation play and he elevated off that foot. No twisting or rolling, maybe just re-aggravated the previous injury, maybe could be more of a high ankle sprain? Hopefully it is nothing and he is ready to go Friday. As much as X can get under my skin at times, we absolutely need him through the next 4 games.

As soon as he got in he lost his man, ran to double-team another guy, and left his guy for a wide-open 3 which of course he hit. I think the staff is losing its patience with this kind of stuff. I think it showed he wasn't ready to play.

Cupps did the same thing but he still helps the team more than Gunn. Plus, Gunn is a sophomore in his second season under Woodson so he should know better.

Due to Wares freshman year in Oregon I was a little skeptical reading some of the more optimistic posts about what he would do here but so far he has exceeded even the most optimistic posts.
We will see how he does against the rigors of the BT big men and style of play. I’m not saying he won’t succeed but just saying that what he faces on the court is about to change rather dramatically.

IMO if Mack can build off of last nights performance and keep the offense up, it will really open the floor for Ware in B1G matchups creating a nightmare for opposing bigs having to guard Ware in space. I think that his ability to face up and shoot jump shots in people's faces will be a huge factor for us. How do you guard a 7 footer that can back you down in the post with those pretty over the shoulder floaters/hook shots or square up and knock shots down from about any distance? If you double him, there is MR or hopefully a shot making MM and Ware seems to be pretty decent passing the ball as well. One of our biggest issues in the UConn game was they basically collapsed to the paint, giving our bigs little to no room to operate and dared us to shoot.

With our front court, if only we could depend on at least 1 guard per game to give us something, I think we become a problem in the B1G. A lot of ifs, but it is definitely there as a possibility!
