8bucks Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 I was pretty critical of prior staffs getting more consolation prizes that primary targets. This staff may get more "almost" commits from higher ranked kids than prior staffs but a miss is still a miss. That being said, we currently have just 2 PGs on the roster right? What is a better strategy, to swing after the top PG in BF and miss but end up with the #15 PG or to go after someone in between to be safe? The latter may get you a higher rated player most of the time but is that enough to move us further in the tournament than what we have done? What if the strategy is to go after the top 1 to 2 players/position every year like we did this year with LM, BF and DQ. If we end up with just 1 but we back fill the 2 we miss with 4* kids and still have a chance to bring in portal kids where we have been strong the last 3 years i think that can still lead to more success. Eventually though, we probably need to hit on more than one of the top 20 kids/year if we want to compete with programs that have been doing that. I am good with Davis and continuing to look at portal kids in the spring. thebigweave and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

That was an epic example of big-timing a guy. Although, if you're gonna crap on Musselman, I would have appreciated it more if he did it in favor of a quality dude like Cooley, Gates, Bennett, etc. instead of Toupee Bill. Pretty easy to know who you would want back and for them to know if they would want to be. Maybe I am missing something I read "Trey is confirmed back next year" differently than "Trey is eligible to come back next year". I already knew that he's eligible to come back, that isn't breaking news. Maybe The Email meant the latter, idk. Quote

Confirming all of that in October, in the current state of college sports however, is wild. ALASKA HOOSIER, Crimson and Cream, thebigweave and 1 other 4 Quote

Woody loves him. He loves playing at IU. I certainly think a conversation was probably had between the ending of last season and the start of this one where they both laid out their intentions. thebigweave, Dave from Dayton, mike vannice and 2 others 5 Quote

TTT Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 D.D. is a 4 star at 81 per espn (so has a decent rating) If he and coaches are on the same page…This kind of player is needed in a program top major conference program for stability with upside development as a couple guards that may be a higher level come and go. Then, by year 3 or so D.D. could grow into an impactful player if he would stay with it. cybergates 1 Quote
