September 8-10th. A Really Big Recruiting Weekend

The weekend that is truly critical for our 2024 class is upon us. This weekend we will have:

• Liam McNeeley
• Derik Queen
• Curtis Givens

On campus.

While they each have their own thread, creating a place to put the news that pertains to all of them seems like a good organizational idea.

I think it's a special font they use for Indiana fans.

Way back when, I wondered why IU would pull out all stops and invite basketball recruits to an Indiana football game and weekend.  Watch Indiana lose to OSU or win against SW St. Vincent Junior Varsity.  Oh, my.  What a treat.

 

But what better way to convince basketball recruits that at Indiana University basketball is king.  (Go to Ohio State and basketball is their off season.

There have been several basketball recruits say this after football game visits.  I think maybe we suck at football on purpose

I try to avoid (unsuccessfully..LOL) getting sucked into the “what is an 17/18 year old going to decide” vortex but….wow, this weekend could really have a huge impact on next season and beyond. Huge talents, positions of need, cultivating a pipeline with the high school that has the most talent, WITHOUT A DOUBT,  in the US, etc, etc.

NIL has added a new level of complexity to recruiting. I don't have a clue how to weight coaching, style of play, location, and NIL.

This is the biggest recruiting weekend I can remember as an IU fan. One big name to pop and we could generate massive momentum.

Would really be fun to watch a season with McNeeley and Queen. Both high basketball IQ players with ++++ skills. Givens is no slouch. Above average in most aspects without jumping off the page in any. Good in pick n roll and can potentially be a very good shooter.

Catching up a bit here, but is McNeeley the real domino here? Home and Texas looming large but Woodson has put the time in from what I’ve seen

I don't know if Queen or Givens pops for us if McNeely doesn't, but if Queen pops for us first, then I would think that it is a guarantee McNeely will be coming too!
