I agree, I want them to have fun, but not at the expense of playing hard and winning some darn games.

It should be all business until they prove they have some darn grit…and can win games outside of Bloomington.

Back to back nationally televised butt whoopings. 22 turnovers, 50 pts allowed in the paint…first 20+ pt loss as a ranked team since 2009. No fire, no leadership and no identity!

It'll be brutal when we start conference play again nothing easy.

That game would’ve been infuriating if The Phog wasn’t so cool and the Kansas fans weren’t so damn nice. The trip was worth the long drive and the beatdown. 10/10 would recommend.

Totally agree. Thoroughly enjoyable experience outside of the result.

I just wonder with this core group, and especially TJD and Race, where does the on floor leadership and mental toughness come from?

Games like today on the road and the at Rutgers game have been far to common the last 4-5 years and it doesn't seem to change.

Who are the guys, if any, that are really pissed off after some of these recent performances? Who is the guy,  outside of the coach, losing his crap in the locker room and getting in guys faces?

I don’t think IU has that and I don't think we've had that in a long time.

And Kelvin Sampson takes a team full of dudes into Virginia and win by 10 or so.  Just gets his guys and wins.  I don’t think they are an impressive team, yet they are.  Coaching matters.  Idk.  Just bummed. I don’t think Indiana ever fully figures it out for whatever reason.

That’s what great teams do. Houston is a tough minded well-coached team.

And they were down 7-0 early and then something like 12-3, but while watching I never doubted they would come back.

You just knew watching their guys that they were mentally tough and wouldn't panic. When was the last time IU was like that?

Thinking about the three losses so far. Two of the three are losses I think every team has at some point, even good ones:

1. @ Rutgers, shot very poorly against on the road against a good defense.
2. vs. Arizona, didn’t play well but fought and just lost to a better team.

Not excusing either, just saying even the very best teams have a loss like those, basically every year. Heck, if you’re good AND lucky, you probably still have one of each.

But today’s loss stings, not because losing @ a good Kansas team is a shame, but because IU didn’t compete smart, consistently, or hard. I think Kansas is good…but nothing about IU’s talent level tells me they HAD to lose today, or be non-competitive.

The talent’s still there, and I think the team believes in its coach. I do too. Flush it and learn.

The trend of not starting games well has set in with this team.  CMW needs to change the starting lineup in order for us to get off to good starts, even if that means Race and Trayce don’t start!  What we have now isn’t working and it didn’t seem to work last year either.  We seemed to have the same problem starting games last year too. When you do play on the road, your has to get off to a good start.  This team seems to be on their heels to start games and play way too soft!

Probably not since Yogi. Race and Trayce are both very frustrating players for me. Not much leadership.

And far too often neither brings energy or effort on the road. Both were brutal in transition today and just slow and nonchalant in their movement.

Why do you think that is? These aren’t kids anymore. Race has been with the team for the better part of a decade now and Trayce, 4 years.  I get why people sometimes are frustrated with X…but he’s the only one that ever shows emotion….it’s actually refreshing because you know he cares.

I'm to the point that if Davis keeps pulling his vanishing act then Duncomb can start in his spot.  Something has to get through to him.
