This is a solid TEAM. You can tell these guys genuinely like and care about each other. Chemistry like that makes for a special team.

This was the best defensive performance I've seen in a long time. That is the kind of pressure in the backcourt that we have been missing. It seemed like nearly every shot by UNC was pressured or contested. Their guards, and they are excellent, never got comfortable. CMW is putting his stamp on this team.

Hard to imagine that the 12 point final margin really wasn't indicative of how badly we beat them.

You take a double digit win over a top 25 team when you can get it.  Good to see only 8 turnovers, with 5 by freshmen.  Need to shoot better from the line and range but take the W.

Even with all the FTs NC shot, we win by 20 if some of those shots that were halfway down then came back out or rolled off the rim would have stayed down or went in.

Just noticed that UNC had 10 TOs to only 5 assists as a team, no player with more than 2 (per ESPN box score).  Johnson had almost that many assists by himself; him, Schifino and Davis had as many assists as UNC had TOs.

Was there ever an official decibel reading from last night? I seen 112 at one point and 125 at one point. Didn't know if anyone got anything legit.

“I just thought that our defense was very constrictive, like an anaconda,” he said, drawing laughter. “It just really sucked the life out of UNC early. They couldn't get any big shots early and we kind of rode it out till the end of the game.””

He had a really dominant game but it wasn’t real flashy. Every “must have” possession starts with getting him the back in the post. His shot blocking covers up a bunch of our defensive breakdowns. Him and Race going for blocks probably is a big part of our giving up offensive rebounds—along with poor team blocking out—but those two things are always hard to reconcile.  
 

After his first two years, I hope he has all the team success this year to go with his personal accolades.

That was so much fun last night. The whole Assembly Hall was full about 30 minutes before tip off. You could tell when you walked in how crazy the place already was!

1) I think this is a team that can win it all this year. It was more so the defense that stood out. They stopped UNC in transition which was huge. 

2) I think UNC is going to be fine. Come March they'll be tough. People forget they were a bubble team before they went into Duke last year and won. 

3) Trayce Jackson-Davis has to be front-runner for NPOY. If Xavier Johnson keeps playing like this in big games he could join Trayce on 1st Team All-B1G. 

4) Someone said this earlier this week..feels confident for us to say IU will have a big 3 every game. It was Trayce and X but Jalen showed up big in the first half. 

5) Trey Galloway is awesome. Perfect guy coming off the bench. I thought Geronimo and Tamar played really well. Malik will be fine. He missed a few under the basket. 

6) Refs were horrible. Really felt IU won by 20 or something. Was this an ACC crew? I'm not saying IU didn't commit fouls but call it both ways. 

If you've never been to a BIG game atmosphere at Assembly Hall, do yourself a favor and go sometime. I have to think the next one will be Purdue in a few months. It was money well spent. I'm biased but I think when Indiana Basketball is rolling there is no better program in all of college basketball.

North Carolina had an awful offense last night.  Was that because of our defensive pressure?  I hope so.  Or maybe they have a bad offensive scheme?  Anyway, from the article Caleb Love and Hubert Davis were asked about it.  I love the disconnect between the two and Davis calling it...bejeebies?  I believe UNC made a bad hire after a good coach like we did.

 

 

(Caleb) Love said North Carolina's offensive struggles on Wednesday night at Assembly Hall were a combination of Indiana taking away certain options, but he also sensed a lack of fluidity.

"It's like we're just standing and waiting for somebody to make a play," Love said. "So we've just got to change our movements, stay active off the ball and we've got to be tough enough and smart enough to get open."

North Carolina coach Hubert Davis was asked what he can do to change his team's habits and tendencies of standing around and waiting for someone to make a play.

“I think that’s bejeebies. I do," Davis said." I don’t know if somebody did say that. I don’t want to comment on something that I didn’t hear and I didn’t understand the context in which they said it. But one of the things that I always tell the guys, not just in reference to tonight, just in life, you have a choice to whine and complain, to point fingers and make excuses or you can get back up and fight.
