From what I understand the decision makers don’t think Allen is the guy but don’t want to pay the buyout.

I'm shocked by this. Absolutely floored. Really.

But have some money set aside or have a donor ready to donate so the new coach starts off with a bang. I’m not sure I fully understand it myself.

Wait, what? Have money lined up NOW for when they fire him in a few YEARS but not money to fire him? It doesn't make any sense to wait to start to make upgrades to facilities as those aren't coach dependent. I'm confused.

Just another indicator at why IU football sucks.

Question. What if we focus all of the NIL money for football (needs to be more) on just getting the best lineman? That’s half the game right there no?

That won't get you a good QB

I think there’s something to the idea, though, for a place like IU. Maybe all your NIL goes to QB, OL, DBs or DL.

That’s what I am talking about.  What’s your team identity?  I’m good spending on offensive  line. Dominate the line of scrimmage goes a long way.

Ryan Day says a million for a QB, a million for an LT, a Million for a pass rusher, and then spread the rest of the 10 million to the rest of the team.

He did say that but Day is competing for guys looking at Bama, A&M, Georgia, Texas, Clemson,  etc.

The type of guys that require that much cash were NEVER going to IU before NIL. They were going to the top 10-12 programs prior to NIL and that’s where they are going to go now.

We need cash, nowhere near 13mm,  to be competitive to land guys looking at Purdue, Maryland, Iowa etc.

If we're stuck with Allen and his team of walkons next year, I can find a definite silver lining.

You know that feeling you get when you waste your beautiful Saturday watching IU football only to be pissed off that you did?  You're all IU football fans, of course you do.

Now we can just skip the game and go play outside instead!  It's a refreshing feeling.

There is nothing positive with the program right now and I can’t believe anyone thinks Allen can turn it around.  If you follow the program you could see this coming.  A competent AD would not have allowed Walt Bell to be hired but there is zero accountability.  Its crickets out of the administration.  They could have moved and given a new coach the chance to talk to the players before transferring.  Either the AD doesn’t care or is incredibly incompetent.  My guess is they pretended to care for a bit.  It’s easy to just say it’s IU football but we aren’t even on Rutgers’ level anymore.  If you believe other sites Allen himself was trying to jump ship. No one else will be dumb enough to take him for us
