Still feel the need to take potshots. What does that say more about? The crappy coach who no longer is part of the program? Or the fans who can’t/ won’t let the past alone?

Most need to take the approach I have. Just forget about Woodys tenure altogether and it doesn’t bother you near as bad.

I have no problem being petty when it comes to the "King of Indiana".

This will connect a few controversial/polarizing topics - Mgbako & Woodson. I like to check in on how former IUBB players are doing and thought this was interesting from the 3 Man Weave's evaluation of Texas A&M

Quote

[Mackenzie] Mgbako is finally free of the warped positional situation he found himself at Indiana, and is now surrounded by shooting and spacing. Already this summer, Bucky is focused on ‘moneyballing’ his shot profile, as Mgbako was too often seduced into suboptimal shots under Woodson at IU.

  • He was taking probably too many long two-point shots in his last season and was doing that a little bit earlier, and he’s limited that. He’s been getting to the basket more. I’d much rather have threes than long twos, and so his analytics for points per shot are the best on the team right now. So we just got to stay the course because he’s an elite shooter, and now he’s getting much better at attacking the basket.

If Mgbako leans into that hybrid 4 prototype, and embraces his crossmatch value as a floor spacer from the second forward position, the Aggies will be hard to guard.

I feel like there's at least a few kids who garnered a lot of hate from certain fans last year, and I'm really curious to see how they'll perform under different coaches.

He can be so good.  I saw that potential immediately.  The mentals also hurt him when we were struggling as a team which affected him adversely.  Reneau and Mgbako are gonna have really good years this year.  And maybe Myles Rice too.  Putting a speed guard who isn't a great shooter in a system with 3 bigs was wild.  So, my guess is Rice does well this year too.

Wasn't this board saying that he would be utilized as a stretch 4 instead of a 3 the last 2 years which is what A&M looks to be using him as?  He wasn't used effectively the last 2 years, although he didn't exactly take over games like he probably could've when the team was really needing shots to go in.

He can be a fantastic stretch four on offense with proper spacing and scheme; it will help if he's not relied upon to handle the ball or pass much. And on defense he can easily guard other fours. But they better have some active rebounding from their guards because he is pretty glued to the floor and doesn't have much burst to the ball..

Is that Acimovic and Ristic in the background with Kenny?

Yup. You are way more observant than I am.

SIAP Puerto Rico trip vlog

This and the shorter videos posted during the trip are really helpful when we’ve got an entirely new roster the fans don’t know or have a connection with.  I feel like I know some of the players much better now, and what do you know, I’m more interested in the season!

Good job by IU on this.
