Popular Post Southside Posted March 28, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2021 So we have a guy that coached at the NBA level, who is an ex IU player, and whom his player in the NBA seem to gush over. And an ex Butler/OSU coach that had a ton of success, knows the MW, and who can coach and develop.... If you can't at least be partially optimistic with that combo, not sure what to tell you. I would have taken either individually over Archie, and now we have two. rcbowla, ray, Papacap and 23 others 26 Quote

TheDarkKnight69 Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Good news is that if Woodson doesn’t work out, we have a great interim coach ready to go so we don’t have to wait til after the season. NVFalcons1990 1 Quote

Matta was hired to make Woodson look young. In all seriousness, Matta definitely improves the situation somewhat in my eyes. He's definitely connected and knows WTF he's doing at the college level. Popular Post Hovadipo Posted March 28, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2021 Everyone with the “I don’t care about this program anymore, my life is over” comments with nothing constructive to add to the conversation (on either side, mind you): Could you just leave? It’s clogging up the thread. pumpfake, Parakeet Jones, Papacap and 31 others 27 7 Quote

But I'm also very ignorant. I just don't see what bringing him on as an associate AD does. Helps Woodson make the transition from pros to college is the main thing as I see it. Matta can advise him and help him learn the monster that is the NCAA. MoyeNeeded and Hurryin' Hoosiers 2 Quote

theriverpilot Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 My opinion is this is a really lackluster hire. I’m disappointed.... BUT, maybe some good assistants on staff can turn this into something good. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners IUSK93 and ray 2 Quote
jmsgws Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 As a middle school kid, I shot baskets in the driveway pretending to play with Woodson. I can appreciate what he means to IU's history. I welcome him back to IU, and wish him a lot of success, That being said this whole thing perplexes me. If I were going after a former player with NBA experience I liked a Keith Smart hire better, but that is only a matter of degree. I think this goes to show you that IU is no longer a top tier destination. If Woodson was choice A, B, or C. I think this deal would have been done a while ago. As someone who has talked about how my apathy to this program has grown over the last 5 or 6 years, for me this doesn't do anything at all to build excitement. The only thing I am excited about in regards to college BB now, is hoping without much hope that someone is going to knock off Gonzaga. IUCrazy2, Trish, Str8Hoosiers and 3 others 6 Quote

Popular Post hoosierpap Posted March 28, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 28, 2021 SMDH. That's all I'll say before I try to find reasons to support the coach. Key now is hiring a staff with college bb experience. I see Lewis as a near must now. MoyeNeeded, ElectricBoogaloo, BGleas and 6 others 8 1 Quote

The only player whose parents might be familiar with MW could be the Franklins - but I don't know if they've lived in Indy that long. Quote
