Holy smokes.

If that doesn’t remind everyone just how fantastic a hire Dusty May would be, I don’t know what will.

Only takes one hand and a toe to count the amount of times they were above .500 before hiring him. A feat he matched in…one hand and a toe number of years himself.

Go back in time and not beat up a woman. That one event alone makes me a solid NO for all of eternity.

We've all done things in life that we regret, but there's no excuse for putting your hands on a woman in that manner... walk away, call a friend for help... but the path that he "allegedly" took is completely unacceptable to me. Full stop.

I agree with you. I have had the misfortune of suffering a concussion, dislocated fingers, and a broken nose defending a girl that I didn’t even know, who I saw get punched in her face by her boyfriend.

All that said, if Beard is in recovery, comes out and speaks about what he did and how he effed up. Goes to schools to talk to kids about domestic violence. Donates money to women’s shelters. Becomes an advocate for women who are victims of domestic abuse. Attends AA meetings weekly. Devotes himself to God. Attends church daily. Takes a vow of poverty. Takes a vow of celibacy. Spends most of his free time volunteering to build homes for veterans that survived POW camps. Spends the rest of his time rescuing puppies from villains in Disney stories.

None of that moves the needle? The answer is still no? Full stop?

I really want to understand if Beard is completely irredeemable.

Honestly, I know you have to play the Stevens stuff out, but assuming 3rd times not a charm there and May is willing to leave UM after a year I think it’s a pretty straightforward call.

It’s probably just a coincidence that May is coming to town tomorrow…..I wonder if he wishes he had waited one more year at FAU?

Feels like we had a lot of people lurking, waiting for the Woody shoe to drop. Welcome, post and lose the jockstrap!

That would be me!  I’ve been a long time reader, but I’m not really connected to anyone and didn’t feel I had much to offer in terms of insights.  But optimism that Dolson can do with the mens basketball program what he did with football.

As people have pointed out that stevens isn't a grinder, not something I really believe but whatever.....

Nobody is going to say that about dusty may. He eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball. If he fails, it 100% won't be for the lack of trying

From all accounts Crean was a grinder.  That alone won’t guarantee success.  My concern with May is that he isn’t an Alpha personality and that is what this program desperately needs IMO.  The list of those who are is slim, but I think Dolson needs to land one of those types.

Listen, I don't support what allegedly happened. We all wasn't there and don't know the situation. But if the man can get IU back to the promise land? I'd say go for it! I'm tired of losing to ******* Purdue!

Honestly, I don't want May personally but that's just me. May be totally wrong here but we'll see

The more I read a variety of opinions, the more I come back to:

Stevens

May

McCasland

Gates

as the four guys I would 1,000% get behind. And while only two of them would win the press release, all four would win the press conference and all four would win a ton of games at IU.

And all four of them are young enough to be 20 year hires.

Why Gates, he went 0-18 in the conference last year
