If I was going to put a wager, I think it is almost certainly Drew at 1B FWIW. If true and we are able to get a Drew/Otz/Lloyd type, I think that's for the best. Dusty would do well here, but it's such a big task for him at this stage in his career. If we miss on the bigger names and get a riskier coach, of course I'll wish we got Dusty this time around or last year. But just looking at this situation, moving to IU right now is hard for him. He just jumped up to a big time job 11 months ago. He completed a rebuild and now he's trying to win the conference (I know he may come up just short) and do something in the tourney. He just signed a new deal and I'm sure has been establishing relationships with the UM admin and their donors -- basically building a foundation. That is a lot of work in one year's time. To do all that and then leave to restart AGAIN with an even bigger job and probably even tougher rebuild, is just a huge undertaking. He throws away all that foundational work he just put in at UM. I suspect IU has more institutional rot that needs fixing than UM too. I don't blame him for staying at UM IF he was offered the IU job. Also, an older, more seasoned coach will be better positioned to fix IU. I'm not saying they need to 70 years old, but Dusty has one year of P5 experience. It's going to take a strong personality with presence to clean up Woody's mess. Dusty could do it, don't get me wrong, I'm just saying a more experienced coach could be the more ideal fit. I admit this might be some "cope" on my part... Can we get a top-end, experienced coach? I don't know. It's not easy, but I'm optimistic with Scott and Pam selling IU and the significant resource upgrade a coach can get here. AZ Hoosier, Dave from Dayton, pumpfake and 6 others 9

Crean only met with IU brass once in a late night meeting in a Chicago hotel. He mentioned regrets that he didn’t find out more about the situation and they probably should have found out more about him. Realize the search form does a lot of vetting but crazy to think how these high profile jobs become cloak and dagger missions and, in the instance of those two hires, neither coach has the opportunity to visit IU, learn more about the fit etc. Also why I am skeptical that all these flights are actually resulting in meetings. Popular Post JimmerNoe Posted March 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2025 So with Rabjohns saying he doesn’t have a clue what Dolson is thinking in this search, does that mean we can safely disregard his hot board and intel on this matter? I didn’t see a hot board post from anyone yesterday so maybe he didn’t put one out, but it seems like admitting you don’t know what the hiring party is thinking at all should exclude you from making much commentary on who they will pick lol PartyintheVillas, thebigweave, HoosierInParadise and 6 others 9

Past history doesn’t indicate such. Not doubting what you are saying but I would add that both of those hires used IU money only. I mean that IU had the money in the budget to pay the coaches. If IU is offering someone 10-12 million over 8-10 years they need some donor help. Those donors are meeting with the candidate right now.
