Well said. Try Drew, try Pearl but there is no reason to go past Beard.

Since we lost Stevens and May I am close to going back to Beard myself. He took Texas F’ing Tech to one shot away from a championship, he would win big here! I want a less divisive guy but I don’t want Tom Crean 2.0 and that is what the rest of the field looks like to me!

Hey all - first post here and joined at the recommendation of a friend. Little burnt out on Peegs right now with the general “sky is falling” that’s going on over there right now. Looking forward to the discussion.

Welcome! Your entry fee is one longform post spilling your guts about what you think is going on with our coaching search! Happy to have you.

I had a long post about it on Wednesday night late...I just think Mick wins here with the resources. I'm warming up to him. After May signed the deal today...I list Mick as my new favorite to land the job. (If you don't want him, you're in luck with my track record).

Yeah, I probably go to Drew or Beard ahead of him. I can't see Scott Drew leaving Baylor after 20 years...hope I'm wrong. Also I hope I'm wrong that Beard won't be considered. If they can't get those two, Mick should 100% be the hire.

Yup…other than the great shot from the UVa kid, Beard wins a title at Texas Tech…and the fact that he has program in Ole Miss ranked in the top 25 in just his second year there is a testament to his coaching. Again, this search doesn’t need to get to Buzz or McCollum. I assure you, as “ISP” said, there will be a lot more pissed off fans if one of those two are hired and not Beard.

Cronin is a good coach. I think most are being too picky and that pickiness is his appearance/personality. If he was our coach and won a ton of games people would embrace him

I don’t think Cronin is a bad coach. He’s just in lower tier than beard IMO.

He was 16-17 last year (his 5th year) at UCLA

if Cronin goes 16-17 his fifth year at IU the student section will be chanting “fire Cronin” and leaving at halftime

Right.. he coached at Texas Tech and Ole Miss not teams that are historically powerhouses in their respective conferences.

compared to UCLA in the pac 12 and UC in the AAC/Big East

Meanwhile Chris Collins at Northfreakingwestern is 19-46 in quad 1 games since 20-21…..basically same quad 1 record as beard at Texas tech, Texas, and ole miss (20-45).

Indiana passing on the chance to hire Dusty May a year ago to keep Woodson is like the Colts having the #1 pick, keeping Anthony Richardson over drafting a can't miss QB prospect, and that can't miss prospect goes to the Titans or another division rival.

Doslon very well may (no pun intended) have things under control and can still land a good coach, but it puts more pressure on him thanks to Buckner and the boys.

Puts more pressure on the new coach however if the next coach wins big then missing out on Dusty May last cycle won’t be a big deal however miss on this hire and May continues to build Michigan up then it becomes a very big deal.   IU is going to get a very good coach this cycle

I sure want to believe that... and understand the big picture here... but man, faith is weak after the last 8 years of crap...

If we’re throwing Chris Collins in the mix…then might as well throw in John Groce or Jerome Tang lol
