Just because he wants the IU job doesn't mean he "loves IU." Why do you think he "loves IU"?

54% in P4 conferences isn't really a "proven winner." You'd take that over actual proven winners?

Good thing Ole Miss fans love him because no better schools want him. He doesn't love them back because he wants out but has no where to go.

IU could hire Beard then one crazy night out and we’re hiring a new coach in a year. When Pat Knight won’t vouch for you, then you’re in trouble.

He loved UK and UofL last year and they both passed on him. Their a lot less unholy than we are and still said no thanks.

Heard over on Trillys discord Bill Self rumors are starting to fly, in recent days I've started to think he might be a Dark horse candidate? 

The more Kansas loses this season the more realistic it becomes. Kansas fans want Nate Oats BAD and he would leave Bama in a heartbeat for KU.

Self would have the same set of resources that he does at Kansas same national exposure but with a fanbase and administration that at least for 4-5 years are gonna be happy with a top half of Big Ten and just stabilize the program by getting the tourney every year. And if one year you go on a run ? Well you go out as the savior of one of the proudest brands in college hoops. Could be his coaching career swan song?

But the administration will be able to feel good about themselves and that’s all that matters. Can’t hire Drew either because he’s too religious, whatever that’s supposed to mean. We’ll likely find another coach from the bargain bin, be gaslit for not being happy with the hire, and then watch yet another flameout. This time will be especially awful knowing that a great coach as begging for the job.

My ex actually does love me, and is still friends with me and my wife. We act like mature, nonviolent adults, and it's worked out for us.

We could also hire Stevens and he decides to leave at the first opportunity to run a hedge fund. There is a ton of support ($1000,000,000) for a guy that has never stayed put long and has bolted at the first glimpse of trouble

id put my investment behind a guy that has always wanted to coach in college

Funny you say that, and I am generally in Beard’s corner l, but I had a guy that is connected to Ole Miss people tell me last weekend that several of their donors are fed up with him.  Said he had promised NIL to kids that wasn’t secured yet or keeps coming back to them for $.

Not sure Self is a safe move. Am curious whether he can get a team to the level of the teams he had before his health incident. Also am curious as to his roster-building approach in the NIL era. Think he went after too many high-dollar guys the last couple cycles without taking their fit adequately into account (Storr comes to mind).

I'm not trolling - I know 'exactly what a troll would say!' but here's what I've read/heard/seen so far - RUMORS - feel free to correct/add:
1) Drew may be interested - that fact is interesting since UK has been the only job that's he's even given a sideward glance to in years

2) Bennett and Wright may actually be in play - thus why we are supposedly building the NBA like infrastructure - they would recruit old school if they choose to (Woodson made that voluntary - sorry couldn't help my self) and Coach. The new NIL junk they hate - they wouldn't have to deal with. They come up with a list of who they want and hand it off to their negotiators. Apparently how Saban ran Alabama long before NIL :) 

3) Brad is still an option but it has been made very clear by the powers that be 'loose lips sink ships' so if this is who you want it's in our best interest to keep your mouths shut. I don't buy that BS or any other big name coach would walk away because of a leak - they've all worked or been part of rabid fan bases (Celtic fan base is pretty nasty at times) so their skin is thick - but there are professional advantages and expected politeness for keeping it quiet till the season is over.  

4) Beard is not an option - Pat Knight does not recommend Beard and has made that clear to SD due to other problems (don't shoot the messenger - I just heard that a couple times on boards/discord)

5) We've got a 'verbal' yes I'm very intersted from May from his agent. Until he signs an extension with UM - I'm inclined to believe this one
6) There has been a lot more interst this time around then last - like a ton - how many are fishing for a better contract where they are? Not sure but obviously with NIL and investment in AD has gotten many a coach to the table that hasn't been there in a while.

What am I missing? (NONE OF THIS IS FIRST HAND - I know nothing)

I understand why IU won’t hire him.  Sure sounds like the hire will be another dice roll.
