No. I guess but making a sweet 16 at a place like Virginia Tech is impressive. Not sure when you are at a place like Virginia tech you are expected to be competing for conference titles. A&M not really known for being a basketball powerhouse and he has done some good things there in his time. 15-3 conference record and finishing second seems impressive to me. I get it though IU should be in a place where they can do better however from my point of view he is the exact kind of coach IU needs if the top guys say no. No. 4 S16s, 1 turned into an E8. Has A&M rolling this year. Also turned around VT. You give him the competitive advantage of IU's NIL resources, he can get you where he's been and further in March IMO. Is he the best coach on the list? No, but he is a guy who can inject life into the program and will be everything people wish for in a HC as a brand ambassador for the university. He has shown he can turn around P4 programs, which is what we need, and he's capable of leading a team that has a shot in March. I don't think a F4 on the resume is a requirement for IUBB in 2025. All you can do is give yourself a shot. I'd roll with Buzz and be excited coming off Woodson. Not sure if he leaves Texas A&M but wouldn't be upset one bit if he did. We'd have a pretty good idea about the next 6 years or so. Parakeet Jones, thebigweave and Muskie plays the four 3

rcbowla Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 I asked this about Dusty before but I'll ask again. Do you think SD would be hesitant to hire another alumn and his friend knowing there's a real possibility he'd have to fire him? The optics of firing back to back alumni wouldn't be good at all. And personally for Scott, firing a friend wouldn't be great either. Clearly there's a chance they ride off into the sunset together as well.
Hoosierfan2017 Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 My answer on a lot of guys is “would like to do better, we’ll probably do worse.” McCollum is one I’m not thrilled at all about, though. He’s a huge risk that IU shouldn’t have to take. Henryville Hoosier, lillurk and IndianaSconnie90 3

I doubt anyone who isn't an IU fan would think twice about firing back to back alumni. Maybe the sort of thing Purdue fans troll IU fans about. Wouldn't let that influence the decision. College basketball grinder I hear you and love these conversations. Buzz has been coaching in a big boy conference since 2008 - almost 20 years - and, while he's had some good years/teams - he hasn't proven that he's a guy that will take us where we all want to go on a consistent basis - which is key for me - I don't want a year every 5 or 6 where we're good. I want a consistent winner. He screams Tom Crean 2.0 to me. Decent coach, high energy, fans will fall in love with him, but in the end - the results won't be good enough. Not a bad backup option, I agree. Uspshoosier, HoosierDevils and bird4par 3

If he hires him, I think he believes Dusty is the best man for the job. Dusty knows the risks, I think if he got fired, he would understand why. I feel like he was a pretty notable name in IU media at the time and the BD stuff came from him. That’s purely off of memory though so someone can correct me if I misremember. I don’t remember Albers role. A lot of back and forth between us and HSN board at that time. Supposedly those guys were well connected. Mile and 0708 and some others over there.
