Oh well, a half empty Assembly Hall gets the same point across. A whole lot of people’s winter calendars just cleared up. 

If he does come back it’s not because Dolson didn’t try. The trustees have not been behind this. I still think Archie won’t coach another game at IU

What does the team as a whole do? Do they get together at all to watch this knowing their name isn’t gonna be called? Is it still interesting b/c it’s college basketball?

Football is like an added bonus for me. I love football and would love to have a consistently good program. But I still need the basketball program to be great. It’s like Ohio State football. OSU having a great basketball program is a great added bonus for the fans. But they would still be pissed despite that if their football program stunk.

If Dolson tried and trustees blocked it, then Archie should know his time is drawing near. He should get out before he is fired next off season.

Sucks that IU handcuffs its ADs from being able to do their job. It’s like the position is just there to raise money from donors while the big decisions get made by someone else. In any event, Dolson will be the guy carrying the stink on him because he’s the public face of the department.

We always see the videos of teams going nuts when their name is called. I've always kind of wanted to see one for a team that wasn't chosen.

Interesting.  Any idea why the trustees are hesitant to make the move?  I'm assuming it's because of the buyout.  Regardless of what people think of Archie, he's a lame duck coach.  No recruit with any real options is going to want to come to this mess.

Interesting.  Any idea why the trustees are hesitant to make the move?  I'm assuming it's because of the buyout.  Regardless of what people think of Archie, he's a lame duck coach.  No recruit with any real options is going to want to come to this mess.

The trustees aren't like us (well, maybe sans Buckner). We eat, sleep, and breathe IU basketball and we even seek out Internet message boards to write about it. They don't see it that way. It's just an athletic program to them. Firing a coach and spending money is more of a nuisance than something they actively want to do.

Jeff Rabjohns, PEEGS, seem to indicate no change of coach for next year as of last week writing.

If IU is going to delay the inevitable for a season and thus kneecap recruiting etc. for an additional year, I’ll just check out and be a casual fan until the next coaching regime. Miller teams are a slog to watch even in the “best” of times.

Get ready to buttonhole this thread until January 2022.  Interesting to see a year from now how many of the names that have been bandied about as potential replacements for '21-22 drop out of contention for various reasons.  Archie better start working the transfer market pretty damn hard because only 1 2021 commit ain't gonna cut it and if Archie's retained I'll be very worried about how many of our existing roster will depart and have to be replaced.
