I'll add this: if there's no handshake deal with a coach by now, it's malpractice. Scott has had 5 weeks officially for this search (really a year) and portal backchanneling has been happening for months already. Whoever the next coach is will need to have been aware of the job they're stepping into and started evaluating the roster and potential additions. 

This. If Dolson doesn't have his candidate locked up at this point, then HE should be fired. 

He had every opportunity in the world to have his choice of candidates due to Woody being axed half-way through the season. There's zero excuse for him not to already have an agreement worked out and ready to sign ASAP the season ends. 

It would be absolute professional malpractice if that didn't happen. Period.

I have been vocal that I'm not sold on McCollum and the risk there. But I think you can sell it to the fans (young up and comer, won at a high clip everywhere, basketball mind, respected by big time coaches, etc.) and I would rally, get behind it and cheer like hell.

Brownell...that would just be so incredibly sad. Not sure how you justify or sell him to the fan base.

I would honestly almost rather keep Woodson a couple more years, in hopes of getting someone better in a cycle or two, than hire Brownell. I'm not hoping for a coach that's been on the perennial hot seat and just a smidge better than Woodson (EDIT: I am aware Brownell made an Elite 8)...I am hoping for someone that can wake the sleeping giant.

I’m sure he’s a fine person and better than decent coach, but also 100% the type of hire fans should probably try to bully them out of making.

Yeah, IMO you can spin some inspiring things with just about any legit candidate that's be discussed. 

I can't find anything inspiring about hiring Brad Brownell. Not saying he couldn't do well, just nothing about it would get me excited at all.

I would say if we miss the tourney and wenesday comes around and its crickets then i would rule brad out. just needs to be announced before the portal opens, and gives some time for planned roll out. just my opinion

Broadly agree but sometimes the way it works in a scenario like you describe is that Monday is Rumor Day and if you know where to look/who to trust, the writing is on the wall.

Then the info comes Tuesday, for practical legal or strategic communication reasons.
