JSHoosier Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I wouldn’t be particularly enthused with McCollum but I could see a possibility if I look hard enough, I also wouldn’t be the least bit shocked if we were here again in 4 years. I know we've been down but I would hope we could pick someone with more than 1 year old D1 experience in his entire career. Home Jersey and taco corp 2
Artie86 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I know this board is ready for the coaching search to be over. I have to trust that Dolson truly has his man, whether it's Stevens or not. I would love for RTZ's latest post to be a smokesreen..... IU05, Jeff Flabjohns, JustWinBaby and 3 others 5 1

I meant the one who got away to me isn’t Brad Stevens but Dusty May (thanks to one more year for Woodson). I can see how I wasn’t very clear. My bad! MikeRoberts, 8bucks and lillurk 3

IMO, it’s much more likely the next coach (whoever that is) has a longer tenure like Crean than another 4 year flameout like Archie and Woodson. Unless they are really, really awful… the next coach will probably be given time to figure things out. cybergates and str8baller 1 1

And a team that completely missed the NCAA tournament last year? Not to mention the blow-outs? It was not a hard sell to most IU fans - even alums who contributed to the university. And what coach gets less than 4 years at IU, unless they do something unsavory that gets them fired? Come on, IU has a slow trigger finger... Like it or not Woodson has important friends more than just QB like it or not . Scott made the move when he needed to make the move at a time when it looked like things would implode to minimize risk / damage I don't fault him for that ! Well guess what? They didn't implode Beat MSU on the road, Smoked Purdue at home, and was a 35 foot heave away from a west coast sweep and another quad 1 road win. I know these are big IFs but if he wins 2 games in Indy this week and makes it passed the the first round of the NCAA tourney? the 3 days later Dolson is gonna trot out Brownell or McCollum depending on how Clemson or Drakes seasons ends? I think Scott Dolson is gonna be a VERY NERVOUS man for the next 365 days. tkbbn, SlammySammy, Over 100 Games and 1 other 4

The right coach can turn things around in pretty short order, especially with the transfer portal being what it is. If they need 9 years, then IU got it wrong again. taco corp and tkbbn 2

I dunno, depends a lot on if Brownell can recruit at the level necessary here, I expect NIL to assist there. While I would absolutely hate making that hire versus taking a swing on Huss or McCollum I can confidently say Brownell would have won more games and not been blown out by anyone with this roster. Without NIL Woody would have been Kenny Payne. He’s a terrible basketball coach. Brownell is not. That’s the only thing keeping me off the ledge if that’s where this goes.
Papacap Posted March 11 Posted March 11 By my 2 minute research, Clemson is one of 6 teams in the top 25 in both offense and defense according to Pomeroy. Let’s bring Brad home. Over 100 Games, cybergates, Home Jersey and 3 others 5 1

But this is Dolson's legacy hire and the program needs stability after 3 coaches in the past 9 seasons. They're going to give the next guy the benefit of the doubt as long as the fanbase can withstand it. They'll either grow to love him or hate him like Archie and Woody when he wears out his welcome lol. JMO RoadRage 1
