Justin Smith epitomized the lack of effort and tenacity on this team.  He was a guy who just went through the motions.

I truly hope he is not back next year.  Not because he isn’t talented enough to help us but because IMO he is a net negative due to his attitude.

Archie’s got some in game strategy work to improve on. Marshall ate his lunch tonight. Maybe Dakich’s best, or even only good, point this season was how Marshall had no problem pulling players - top or bottom - when they made bad mistakes. Archie often seemed to let  some ropes run too long and at times appeared disengaged w refs and overall drive.

I just think archie has to get it done next year or year four will be toxic. He would be coaching for his life and the fan base will mostly have turned on him imo. Threr years without an ncaa will really make things difficult for him.

After what 4 ncaas out of 11 years fair or not he will be. Also I do think by year three you should be showing big improvement if you are the guy to get it done. I had hoped by now we would already know he was the guy. Another coaching change and well its another three years to see if we got the right guy. I may just take up golf full time as a hobby at that point.

5th? Boy I do not see 5th. Most big ten teams return alot next year. I just do not see right now how we finish in the top half. Call me pessimisstic I guess.

People are just looking for hope. Sadly, we will like finish 8th and below. Might include an NCAA birth? That depends on how weak the bubble is next season. Michigan State will be the team to beat if Winston stays as they’ll be starting Winston, Langford, Henry, Tillman and Ward. That’s probably good enough to start them out at #1 in the nation next year.

Pains me to say this but..... right now.... Archie is not showing a glimmer of hope that he’s the right guy. We are roaming aimlessly in the wilderness. Extremely disappointing/disheartening.

This game epitomized the season: inability to hit shots, inability to hit free throws, inability to defend against the 3-point shot, too often lackadaisical effort. Now IU loses its two best players. We're getting one starter recruit in Trayce Jackson-Davis who may be a better defender than Juwan Morgan but not likely a better scorer. It's a stretch to predict that the team will be as good as this year's team given who is coming back.  Maybe Al, Rob, Devonte, and Justin will become consistent shooters/scorers but what are the odds? Coach needs to lose that way too predictable weave offense because it rarely seems to put players in a position to score.

None of us know for sure what has gone on internally with this team. But if rumors are true that there have been issues between players that can explain a lot.  I'm counting on our coaching staff taking the steps necessary to deal with that now that the season is over and believe they will do so.

Green
Smith/Durham
TJD
Davis

That starting lineup will be good enough for maybe 5th in the B1G.

I will politely disagree with that lineup sniffing the top half of the BIG.

The Romeo experiment kinda took that away for me too a little.

Matthew Hurt is the type of freshman you need to get if you want to rely on freshman. Even then they need help.

I’m worried about TJD as a Freshman. Don’t get wrong. Super glad he’s a Hoosier. But he doesn’t seem like a banger. The B1G is likely to eat him alive as a freshman.

No one really jumps out at me in our supporting cast. No one I’m that excited about sans Jerome.

Phinisee is probably the guy I’m most interested in seeing if he can make a big leap.

Agree with all of this, but the Jerome hype is WAY over inflated in my opinion.  I am sure he is a skilled player, and will hopefully contribute next year, but we all know that until a player proves it at the BIG level it is all words.  And lets just pray the kid stays healthy.

Archie is one dimensional and that needs to change.  Defense is great, and much improved over the year.  But you can't do that at the expense of offense. Offensively it looks like he has no clue.  You can get away with that at a small conference school like Dayton.  But the Big will eat you alive.  He needs a "Tex Winter" type bench coach to teach him.  That would be the greatest off season acquisition.  Otherwise, meet the new boss -- same as a he old boss.

I thought it was funny that he didn't point out that Archie pulled Smith for standing and watching, put him back in a few minutes later, he gets a block, runs the floor for a dunk. But only Gregg Marshall does that stuff.

Proud of the guys. Through the injuries they fought. Through the 1-12 span they fought (except for MN). They starting hitting their stride late, too late. I liked how they played without RL. Some very positive things from guys that will be back. 
Need shooters.

This. Few people are willing to recognize the hurdle this team overcame at the end of the year regardless of making the field of 68 (or not).
1-12 could have been even worse. But they rose to the occasion against some solid teams at the end of the year and still had themselves in consideration for March. They played better than expected without Langford. They seem to have overcome whatever personal dissonance was afoot during that stretch. And the injury bug; you’d have thought it was a communicable disease on this team.

Believe it or not, there was a little positive in all that was the 2018-2019 season.

Frankly, the Langford experiment shouldn’t have ever been. I’ll leave it at that. Too many rose colored glasses couldn’t see the reality sitting before them. They couldn’t look at high school and see the blatant disparity that was smacking anybody who watches and knows basketball right in the face. Langford was what he was because he went against severely inferior talent night after night, and his coach made sure he got his requisite points night after night. While there may be athleticism, you see the glaring gap after the B1G carved him up game after game.

I’d rather see Miller go after the best in the state that intend on staying 4 years. I will go to my grave thinking that the real problem with this team wasn’t related to injuries, but to chemistry, and BAD chemistry at that. No more 1 and dones, it just isn’t worth it. Build a stable program and forget bringing in the lone rangers that demand all the attention and can’t mesh with anybody.

OK. I guess I’m done now. Give me baseball season.

I think you should, man. Just walk away from it. Actually, I think anybody who feels that way too should walk also. I hear Duke has a pretty good team this year. Maybe you could root for them instead going forward?? Just a thought.

You have to remember that Dakich is the guy who said that he had to get on Knight to motivate him to go after refs.

Yeah, I thought he took a couple of cheap shots last night. But that is nothing new. I loved the message Marshall gave before the game and at halftime. He did a great job. I think our guys are too relaxed at times here at IU because they are pampered and have such nice things.
