  1. If rumors are true, it sounds like Ryan Carr hit the ground running. Was told he was doing some nice work already. Person didn't name names but said Carr had several high-major players interested in IU, with a couple ready to sign. Time will tell if that is true or not.

  2. Honestly, neither would matter. We’re likely looking at 14-15 new players on the team next year. This was a one year project. It didn’t work. We didn’t build momentum for next year or develop a couple guys for a sophomore jump. This season of Indiana basketball was just this season of Indiana basketball. And now it’s over. Really never felt a connection to this team in any way. It was mediocre basketball played by players who I barely got to know, and will not remember in six months That part hurts to admit. It hurt seeing balconies empty all year. Hurt that we didn’t have a brand of basketball that was interesting. Probably watched the fewest games in a season in my 35 years as an IU fan. I just hope they can get my attention back somehow next year. Because losing interest in one of the things that has been a part of your identity and a source of hope and sometimes joy, feels weird. I just want them to make me care. We’re at a point where that would be an achievement.

  3. Nice little segment of the seniors coming off the floor. Makes you think, think about the years past coaches and players….we had several players get in trouble off the court and a few personalities that were crappy. Not this team. This is probably one the cleaniest crews we’ve had in some time, and most likable kids we’ve had the pleasure of putting on the uniform, no bad talk on Twitter, no putting down the fan base during a speech, no lazy play . Just wore the IU uniform with pride and actually hustled their tails off, and represented the university well! Go IU!

  5. I’m not sure how I stumbled on it, but this appears to be a non-AI photo of Malik Reneau in line for some pizza after their game today. Other tweets lead me to believe he ended up with chicken tendies. Either way, I find this extremely funny and am left with a bunch of questions.

  6. probably pencil one in for the next 3 years if you want. Would be shocked if he left

  7. Some thought a program with 4 winning conference records in 18 years with a new head coach should of landed more elite 26 kids that they probably spent less then a month at most to recruit compared to other programs recruiting the same kids for longer. Is what it is. Some still think IU basketball is what it was in the 80s and 90s. It’s not

  8. 4 guys who made All Big Ten this season were small school transfers. Lendeborg (POY), Stirtz, Boyd, Wilkerson. On top of that, plenty more were important contributors on tourney teams. Too many to list. Evaluate each player on their own merits, not just where they come from
    13 points
  9. Just for a point of reference, a 95.0 ratings is where transfer portal players rated 35 through 50 were last year on 247 rankings.

  11. Agree on the roster building. We absolutely need a top flight PG. That is a must. Can't "Enright" or "Conorway" that position. Get a long, athletic big, and then surround those guys with dogs, athletes and playmakers. Add a shooter or two around them. This offseason needs to be a big swing. Were like an NBA team that's in the play-in every year. At some point this program needs to make a leap and get some momentum. It's needs to happen.

  12. Pretty impressive since we’re the only bad team on there. I have to say is a pretty good showing by OSU too given they weren’t stellar. IU has some of the best fans in the country easily.

To me, it is truly astounding that our fan base still cares that much about our college basketball team. Never have so many cared so much about such a mid program. If we ever are a perennial top ten program again, look out.

  14. FWIW, Brian Evans, who tends to be very much an IU cynic on podcasts, says he personally knows Ryan Carr well and speaks to him regularly, and also says that Carr is absolutely excellent in pretty much every way that matters.

  15. Punting work today and hitting the Missouri Valley Conference qtrs. The friend I’m going with and knows way more about that conference than I do, gave me 3 names to watch for portal purposes: 1) Sam Orme(Belmont)- Carmel kid who’s busted out this year pretty good. Averaging 13 and 5 on 38% from 3. 2 years of eligibility. Given the 2 ‘26 kids, Dorn and, presumably, Sisley can’t imagine a 6’7” wing shooter would be a high priority, but who knows. 2) Jaquan Johnson(Bradley)- averaged 17 and was 1st team all conference and 1st team all defense. Averaged more steals than to’s. 2 years of eligibility. Since Norton was there he feels like at least worth checking into. 3) Drew Scharmowski(Belmont)- The one I really want to see. 6’10” and apparently possibly still growing. Averaged 11/6 with a block and a steal in 19mins a game and was 1st team all conference and 1st team all defense. 2 years of eligibility. My friend loves him. Says he’s a straight up winning player. At minimum, anyone coached by Casey Alexander absolutely knows how to play. That guy is as good a developmental coach as there is. Should be fun.

  16. This season has been fine/solid/good enough: First year of a new coach sitting at 18-12. Bubble tournament team - currently 50-60% likely to get in. A bunch of very likable players - Sam Alexis, Enright, Lamar especially for me. Incoming recruiting class for next year is already strong. Finally playing modern offense. First time in eight years for that. Much of the program buzz is gone because for decades we have been a middling program, we aren't exceeding expectations, and because the fan base is understandably much more into our undefeated national championship football team. But overall? This is better than the past two years of Woodson and pretty much all of the Archie era.

    Coaching Malpractice

Not sure it has been discussed thoroughly just how bad Todd Golden's defensive decisions were for the possession of Iowa's winning score last weekend. Iowa inbounds down two with 8.9 seconds remaining. Golden has three.. yes THREE defenders in the backcourt. One on them is guarding the in-bounder! Guarding the in-bounder is a 6'4" backup guard, when Florida has Reuben Chinyelu, a 6'10" national defensive player of the year candidate parked on the bench. Florida Guard Xavian Lee is tightly guarding Iowa 6'7" freshman forward Sage, who Florida should very much want to catch the ball. Fland is guarding Stirtz; Iowa clearly wants to get the ball to Stirtz, not Sage. 2. Stirtz, as expected, curls toward Sage to pick up a screen. Fland goes under the screen, thereby not putting himself between Stirtz and the basket. As Fland gets beaten, Lee does not switch; he lets Stirtz fly by: Which allows Stirtz to catch on the dead run just past the backcourt three point line. AND? it's on. A three on two fast break for Iowa: Haugh and Condon on Florida are guarding three players. Haugh steps up to Stirtz; with the ball and the best shooter of the three. Stirtz makes the easiest pass ever to the near corner. For the widest of wide open threes imaginable. Game over. This is insanely horrifically bad scheme and strategy every step of the way. Golden's explanation? UF was trying to foul in the backcourt to force Iowa to tie the game from the line. NO YOU WEREN'T - Todd Golden is lying, because fouling up two when the other team is in the double bonus would be (if possible) even worse strategy. Aye. Caramba.

  19. Conerway was the player of the year in the Sun Belt. Bailey led the Atlantic Ten in scoring. I would call both of them dominant players in their leagues. There are no guarantees. Scouting matters.

Love this. It really is what this deal’s about. And made all the sweeter by happening at Wisky’s expense.

  21. That’s always the excuse. It’s a good way to get a bad coach an extended stay too. Cig didn’t excel because of lack of pressure. That’s insane. Cig excelled because he’s confident, cocky, and capable. He had a plan and he executed it and it worked. He said, outright he was going to win. He brought pressure onto himself that he didn’t need to do nationally. (Sure he over performed likely his own expectations, but he never cowers) DeVries is not Cig in any form or fashion. Hiring someone with a similar confidence and a proven system would be a start. We HAVE never done this.

  25. Just for the record. I actually like him. I like a lot o bout what he represents. Just want him to be better. His portal efforts and choices disappointed me last year. Felt like a wasted year from jump. That has added concern. But in general, I like him, and really want him to do well. Waiting for results on and off the court to indicate improvements.

  26. And that's why I am reasonably sure that we had a truly top of the top guy that felt that way about IU, but we were a year too late to get him.

  28. If we acted like a serious program we wouldn't have hired Woodson to begin with. Though we definitely waited to long to rectify that mistake. I'm so tired of our fans being blamed for the program's struggles. Are there some knuckleheads? Absolutely. Same as any program and especially programs with the history of IU. We've missed out on landing top coaches because stupid internal politics and/or waiting too long to get rid of bad coaches.

  30. Not nearly as high on Sisley as the rest of the board but it would sure suck to have a freshmen from Indiana who grew up a fan of IU get poached by Dusty. Not doing everything we could to sign May will probably end up on the Mount Rushmore of IU athletics failures.

  33. Kansas has plenty of money. And Self can coach. But he’s really struggling (relatively speaking) to adjust to the NIL era. Lots of poor fits he hasn’t been able to coach up. Annoying center from UM, Storr, and the malcontent superstar frosh, etc… What Dusty and Underwood are doing goes way beyond money. Guys like Mara, Cadeau, and Johnson weren’t exactly portal darlings. They’re nice players who Michigan is getting more out of than their last coaches did. Perfect example of “fit.” Self has been the opposite—every year he has a malcontent or high priced guy producing less than at his last stop. That’s what Carr has to help with. And quite frankly Devries needs to be able to do when they get here. The roster this year wasn’t as bad as our record but most of the pieces didn’t fit together and I don’t particularly think the coaching really took for some of them either.

  34. No bid stealers, rest of the bubble teams lose, Devries cashes in his IOU from last year, Wilkerson buys someone on the committee a cadillac and I think we’re dancing.

  37. Anyone that knows this program, knows the most likely scenario this week. - We beat NW or PSU and look good doing so. - There will be excitement that follows the next 24 hours about the possibility of beating Purdue and making the NCAA Tournament. - We proceed to lose to Purdue (and it probably won't be close).

  39. I agree with you. But at the same time we'd be using this as some big red flag against DeVries if it was reversed.
