Barely posted the past few days because I was in Atlanta. Truly a bucket list experience. When Ponds picky-sixdied it felt like twenty jet planes were revving in 10X10 room. The crowd was insanely pro and all IU. If you take away the Oregon band members? 90-95% IU without a doubt. With an announced attendance of over 75,000, maybe the single largest IU crowd ever; home, road, or neutral. The Oregon people I met were super nice but they kinda didn’t have much of a choice. The IU fans were exceptionally nice to them even when they could have engaged. This semi-old IU fan stayed up past 2:00 am two nights in a row, drove 19 hours over 2.5 days, my voice is still trashed, my eyes ache, and it was one of the best entertainment and IU times of my life. With my 19 year old son and four of my absolutely best college buddies by my side. Never daunted. And sublime.22 points

Sidenote, I personally know the Brock Schott family and he’ll be a Hoosier very soon. Leo HS TE. Highly rated. I don’t think he’ll be our penciled in starter but he’s a big athletic kid that’s focused on be great. Will be cool having him on the team.19 points -

Title Game Postmortem
VPC and 17 others reacted to Magnanimous for a topic
Nick Saban’s takes have been dogs!t this entire season. And if the greatest, smartest, and most accomplished college football mind can’t tell his @$$ from his face when assessing IUFB under Cignetti, then there aren’t any pundits whose opinions are worth two cents (sans College Football with Sam, BuffedinPrime, and maybe Joel Klatt). I’ve already forgotten who won the championship 8 years ago. This team/season will be talked about for decades, maybe longer, because this was bigger than the game (to use a cliche). We just pantsed a billion dollar industry with a ballsier performance than Babe Ruth calling his own shot. They can hate us all they want, make up whatever excuses they want, etc. The fact remains that there isn’t a single coach in this sport’s history who could’ve done what Cignetti did. All these programs that have poured hundreds of millions into their teams, sold out 100k stadiums for decades, and then here comes little old Indiana winning a championship before many of them, and one that was purely settled on the field. We didn’t get a narrative bump to make the playoffs. We didn’t duck anyone on our path. We didn’t have any luck on our side or benefit from an opponent’s injury to a star player. We didn’t cheat. There were no questionable calls that went our way. We weren’t a bubble team that got hot at the end. And the real kicker is we did it with 0-3 star recruits, all while playing a longer season and more arduous schedule than any champion in history. This isn’t supposed to happen, but it also wasn’t a fluke. I think most casual CFB fans were behind us on this one. But the ones that weren’t, and probably for the reasons you stated, they can make all of the excuses they want to. Nothing like this will ever happen again in CFB, even if Cig wins another one here.18 points -

I was there last night... few major takeaways: 1. First real Assembly Hall crowd of the season 2. Conor Enright player of the game. Outstanding defense, don't know how he still had the legs to make that late 3 3. We are still terrible at closing out games. Came very closing to choking that away. Late game execution needs to get way better17 points -

Some follow-up on the Fletcher incident with Tyrique per Niz: Indiana football defensive tackle Tyrique Tucker tried to congratulate Miami's running back Mark Fletcher Jr. with a hand shake after a 27-21 win in the CFP title game on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium. Fletcher stunned Tucker with a sucker punch. "I was just trying to congratulate him on the game," Tucker told The Herald-Times. "He tried to sneak me, everybody kind of held me back. That was a cheap punch. Luckily, we got the win, I'm not really too worried about it. He's salty, he going home with the L." lol. You're damn right Tyrique.17 points -

(2026) - Vaughn Karvala to INDIANA
cchuntsman and 15 others reacted to Demo for a topic
Some thoughts on Karvala after getting to see him up close for a couple of days. Makes a total of 6 games of his I’ve gotten to watch, 3 from HS last year, 1 travel ball game he played against Ethan Taylor last spring and the 2 EYBL scholastic games the last 2 days. This may go on for a while, but he is a really interesting prospect to me: 1) Physically, he is about as prototype a wing as it gets. He’s legitimately 6’7”, which I’d wondered about and while his frame is pretty narrow, he’s probably 185ish, I think he can probably get to 200-205 and that’ll play. He’s not long, but probably slightly plus, +2 or so maybe. Athletically, he’s top shelf. He can really run. He has easy movement and change of direction. And the vertical explosion is something. Probably pushing legit 40”. There was a play where they threw him an alley oop that only Wemby could have caught but Karvala’s fingertips were slightly above the top of the square and his head was at the rim. That was a woah moment. 2) We’ve run through his game before, and there wasn’t a lot I hadn’t seen. He’s a streaky shooter with some funk in his stroke that needs cleaning up that isn’t happening now. Makes his release a hair slow which with his twitch shouldn’t happen, The handle needs to tighten up notably. Right now at the HM level he’d be strictly a 3 bounce straight line driver. Not sure if that will get better or not. The defensive tools are great if he develops the mentality of a stopper. Not sure if he’s got that, but it’ll play. He’s miles better than a kid like Dorn. 3) The between the ears is gonna be the thing here. For a kid who has a legit NBA toolkit, Karvala’s confidence is a clean slate from game to game. If he makes a couple of early plays he revs up and he really pops. But if he doesn’t he becomes pretty content with just blending into the game. He’s not an alpha or instinctively a killer like Moody is. He needs a PG who understands the need to get him out of the box strong and his current PG is a shot hunting machine and doing him no good at all. And he’s just a bit of a different kid. During halftime warmups of a game they were losing yesterday he was singing along to Enter Sandman, which was playing overhead. Would think Cig would have ripped his head off. But he competed between the lines. He’s not uncompetitive, just…different. Summary: Karvala is crazy high variance, way more so than Moody or Branham. His range of outcome is anywhere from a 2 year guy who plays in The League to a 1 year and transfer out who doesn’t work out and damned near anything in between is reasonably possible. I’m down with taking the swing here because he’s gifted in a way that doesn’t grow on trees and he seems like a good kid, but anyone who watches him and confidently predicts an outcome is nuts.
