I’m on day 8 of no power down here. Sub freezing temps every day. I’ve moved the family, including the pup, around to 3 different places, and likely to a 4th tomorrow. My zip code is scheduled to be back up on Feb 8th. My friends have commented on how crazy it is that we aren’t falling apart (yet) and I’m not kidding in the slightest when I say this natty run and the joy it brought is doing absolutely elite work on my mental state. This thread can’t die yet b/c I am oh so very close to being daunted, but currently remain never daunted.

Development of Dorn & Bailey has improved IU significantly

It is pretty unusual- I throw and shoot (basketball and guns) left, but write right. When I started playing bass, I was left handed but taught myself to be right handed (lefty basses are expensive lol). But I drink right handed. So basically, I don’t know what the hell I'm doing lol!

Unranked, but about to be ranked. Stacking P4 offers from the Midwest. When you are the national champs and in early? Every other team is thinking “crap.”

She's a burger girl! Socka-Ngueman was one, but we didn't sign her out of high school. Not sure if we ever have.

Not that rankings really mean much, but with the obvious eye for talent Cignetti and the coaching staff has and the team's success, I expect that unranked or lower ranked recruits will get bumps in ranking just because IU is recruiting them. Maybe the rankers will think they're just missing something or look more closely and see something there as well, but they'll probably give them a bump.

Just for context regarding college football recruiting compared to basketball, IUFB's current starting LG was a zero star preferred walked on.

For those hoping this game won’t go much past midnight ET, good luck… USC is #1 in the B1G (and 3rd in the country) at FT attempts. IU is second in the B1G in Fouls. USC is first in Fouls (IU 9th in FTA). This has all the makings of a FT contest. SC is last in 3PA. They will be driving the ball non stop so IU will need to manage the foul trouble. SC gives up a lot of 3’s, so hopefully IU can trade enough 3P Made for Free throws given up. Should be interesting.

The talking heads and fans have the same, expected, understandable, run-the-gamut,human reactions every time. The head coach and his staff are different, for better or worse, every time.

Wow. That was cool. Unbelievable what they’ve done with that kid. 1st part of last year he was almost unplayable and now he’s an NBA guy. Also has the added benefit of being the guy on the floor no one wants any part of.

I have zero problem being patient as long as I see a positive trajectory. First positive move I saw was going to Alexis as a starter. Next we'll see if Conerway continues to come off the bench and Dorn starts. Looks like CDD is willing to adapt, which is a good sign. Got to finish strong, though.

staff is killing it with stud recruits coming for a visit

Staff has been heavily investing in recruitment of Illinois. Lots of D1 talent near Chicago and I believe it will continue to pay off.

People saying the fanbase sucks is always going to stir emotions. The fanbase as a whole is tremendous and everyone knows that. Basketball has been starving for 30 years and haven’t given the fans any return on investment, but still want all the perks of being a program that fills the stadium and roots them on. Its a 2 way street. For those saying the fanbase sucks, the fanbase can say the basketball team has sucked. The cure for all of this, has always been winning. Winning enough to make the fans proud. The football team has totally overachieved of course, but that’s the same fanbase. The exact same fanbase. Get a coach and basketball team that wins at near top level and unlock that fanbase mojo that is starving for a winner.

Moving right along, another game streamed on Big Bird especially for you night owls. The Condoms (16-6) (5-6) average 82 ppg with a +6 margin shooting 47% FG and 32% on 3s. They average 38 rpg with a +4 margin so not a dominating team on the boards. They have 4 averaging 10 ppg or better led by Rodney Rice (who is out for the year) at 20.3 and Chad Baker-Mazarra at 18.8. Baker-Mazarra is by far their best 3 shooter at 37%. They have 2 other players shooting 39% but on minimal attempts. Jacob Cofie at 7.4 and Ezra Ausra at 6.0 are their leading rebounders. Ausra is particularly effective on the offensive glass. As a team their assist/turnover ratio is 1.2 and they only generate 14 ppg off turnovers. Don't want to get too giddy after the last 2 wins in particular, but this is a winnable road game. radio Live Stats

Another positive, if it becomes a FT contest is they only shoot 71.7%. IU shoots 78.5% (12th in the country)

Against 5A and 6A competition as well. For example, IUFB commit Trevor Gibbs (Crown Point) and Minnesota commit Aaden Aytch (Lafayette Jeff) were some of his blocking assignments in his Jr. season highlights. He'll be at least a 3 star before he signs. Hopefully he signs with IUFB.

I know for a fact that I would rather stay in Southern California for a few days as opposed to coming back to snow and 20° temps for a day and head back out. I know I wouldn't leave until I had to seeing it is in the 70s out there. LOL

Did breaking the losing streak get the monkey off the back of our women's team? We'll find out Tuesday evening. Badgers (13-9) (5-6) are 11-1 at home. They average 70 ppg matching their opponents average shooting 42% FG and 35% on 3s. They average 36 rpg vs. their opponents average of 35. They're careless with the ball averaging 17 turnovers/game and a team assist/turnover ratio of .8. Destiny Howell at 14.6 and Kyrah Daniels at 12.8 are their leading scorers. Howell and Daniels are also their highest volume 3-point shooters at 44% and 32%. Lily Krahn shoots 47% but has only attempted 60 on the season. Gift Uchenna is their leading rebounder at 6.7 followed by Daniels at 4.8 and Ronnie Porter at 4.7. Uchenna is particularly strong on the offensive glass. Porter has their best assist/turnover ratio at 2.0. They don't commit a lot of fouls as Howell is the only player who averages more than 3 per game. I get why it got made we were taking alot of Ls for a bit. Roster construction L OoC schedule L Conference Games L But we have a nice little streak going now. We have gotten to the ebb and not just the flow of winning and losing. All I want from Coach is making the tourney and build a more solid/complete roster next year. We lose a lot of pieces from this team

Dorn is averaging 22 ppg during the three game win streak. He’s been a game changer.

Can't believe on a work night this is a 10:00 game but then it is 7:00 on the west coast.

One note - Rice is out for the year. Still an athletic team as typical Muss teams are. Can be streaky from what I’ve seen.
