  1. Tidbit on IU potentially playing in the World University Games representing the USA in Peru. Games would be in late July and be nationally televised. Via the hysterics podcast that came out today

  6. Damn right they are. Not to get too off topic here, but playoff hockey might be the most exciting version of any major sport imo. Back to topic...would like to see at least 1 big and 1 combo forward. I'm happy where we are but need some depth for injuries or foul trouble.

  7. Jamie Shaw of On3 did an update on Wabbington and we were one of the six schools mentioned. Talks primarily with KJ but really likes DDV. "...would really allow me to play make and shoot to score and allow me to play where I want to play.”

  9. DAMN YOU OLD FART! ;) On behalf of the moderators (that's you OF), I was hoping that this would stay under wraps until, oh, about the 12th of never, to prevent political commentary Tomfoolery and the like. So in advance; a reminder that: While most have firmly held political opinions, this board is not the place for them. Even with an IUFB visit to the White House, that policy will be strictly enforced. Why is this our rule? Because: If we open that Pandora's Box it is very hard to close it or moderate it even-handedly, Political conversations on a message board usually go downhill even if they start out well-intentioned, And finally (and most importantly) because generally, people enjoy that this is a politics-free internet space. So here are examples of what will and won't be allowed: YES: "Looking at the IUFB White House video and saw that Cignetti brought his third cousin's grandma's nephew with him. Heard that kid can really punt a football and has committed to NW Eastern Michigan Tech. See link for that young fella's recruiting profile." NO: "Looks to me like XXX Player loves/hates/is ignoring/is playing bocce ball with XXX Politician. I find that to be lovable/hate-able/worthy of being bludgeoned with a bocce ball."

  12. I don't think IU is lowering standards or giving up on the last three spots. If we had done that, we would have already signed some players to round out the roster so the staff could take a vacation. I'm pretty sure we're low on money. We've spent a fortune and there is a limit to what we can spend -- I don't think we can just allocate another $3M to IUBB for another obvious impact player. I get why our fans would like IU to do that. I suspect the staff is scouting for the best we can get for our remaining budget. It's not ideal and not easy, but that's where we seem to be. There will likely be uncertainty with part of the rotation. The staff is going to have to get some upside surprise from some players on the roster for us to have a really exciting year. That's pretty normal, a staff either scouts well and develops or they don't. And if they don't, nothing very good is going to happen.

  14. Seems about right. We’ve got around a 15-30 ranked team as it stands. We’ve got some solid potential. A couple studs. A few what ifs. Some freshman with potential that look way underdeveloped to contribute that it seems we are counting on. If one of them pop plus Mustaf or Harris we should be fine. If not…. Wish we would have added one more top 6 guy to the roster then depth at the 5. That roster would push up 5 spots and some versatility. Will Sisley improve enough? Can Harris contribute? Is the 3 ball going to be abysmal? The freshman as I mentioned above appear frail as can be (sans Moody). Lindsay isn’t really a 1. Even though he can play it some. So we don’t really have a back up 1 in case of injury. Moody? Still holding on to a glimmer of hope they rethink these last couple spots. Until they are filled, we’ve still got time and hope.

  15. OG and the Knicks in game 5 vs Atl tonight. Knicks ahead 78-29. With three minutes left in the second quarter. Wow. OG has 24 on 9-10, 4-5 from three in 18 game minutes.

  17. While I mostly agree, the part that brings me a lot of optimism is that we won 18 games with a pretty terrible roster last year, upgrades across the board at each position besides Lamar. Make the tournament and win a game or two.

  21. A long time ago students used to be in the north bleachers -- I think back in the mid-2000's they moved them out. Now they're back in the north bleachers. Should help the atmosphere a bit. Nice move. Update: I heard a donation helped make this possible. Kinda crazy.

  22. Blowing that knee out early that season really was horrible because I would have love to have seen him blow it up. You could say that if the injury hadn't have occurred, Crean would have stayed for at least another year. We could have made the tourney with a high seed. Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda

  23. Agree. That feels like the best case scenario. It's kinda easy to picture how this happened. To close on the big time signings like Sherrell, we probably went a little higher than we wanted, which kept eating away at the budget for the last few spots. But it was a better move to close on those guys than be sitting here without them and using their budget to sign a bunch of mid players. We'll see. Regardless, it's been a pretty exciting and solid portal. Still #1 on On3 and #3 on 24/7. Offseason champs!

  24. I wonder what they have left. It wouldn’t surprise me if they have a small pile they could throw at the right guy as the market drags on and prices come down. And if that doesn’t happen they can just fill out the roster and roll mostly as-is. I get the same sense as you, though, that they’re unlikely to get in a bidding war for somebody at this point.

  29. I think Dorn will be solid. I think Dorn vs Harris will be an interesting comparison this season. They’ve got a nice roster in Miami. Will be interesting if Lucas pops for a bigger Job next cycle. Especially if he has another good season. I think he has the potential to be an elite recruiter.

  40. This is why we need IU baseball to be better. But the NHL playoffs are incredible. And Summer is incredible. Hopefully can get at least 1 add with something to offer. Or maybe 2. We have more to look forward to roster wise without a doubt this season, but I think we are making a mistake by intentionally lowering our standards on the “final” 3 spots. If the Freshman aren’t good or ready we’ve hurt ourselves.
