Yes the team that won the national championship added a piece quickly and was able to keep their pg that won MOP of the final game and IU who finished 10th and who has only had 4 winning conference records in 18 years is struggling to get any traction with top level kids

MSU has the perfect role, coach, and track record of success. And we wouldn’t be the only school willing to match financial offers like similar lesser programs. To me this seems like wasted effort by the staff—I don’t see any path here.

If and when IU reemerges as a basketball power it will be because CDD or whomever comes after hits on a few underrated kids and coaches up some others ala Todd Golden or Dusty May, it will not be from bought college dream team. And quite honestly it needs to be that way, if not you just end up with a modern and worse version of the Calapari UK yearly crash outs that are less sustainable in the NIL era. Quin Buckner and Mike Woodson should both be persona non grata for putting their own selfish agenda ahead of the good of the university that made them both icons and multi millionaires.

This is what I said last year. I've been ahead of this from the beginning. Could always see how this was going to go.

I find it tough to evaluate guys like Harris who barely played at Duke, or Mustaf who played for a god awful team. Feels like these are high variance guys who you could really overpay or get a bargain on. Should be where Ryan Carr earns his money.

If this staff can’t make the tourney and start building a program with $13M or so, which is #10-15 in the country, we have the wrong staff. Giving them more money would be a waste. If IUBB wants more they need to show traction and justify it.

As someone who is married to a far better-looking person, I understand, but I have also worked for a university for 25 years, and it has always been a no-no to date a student. I have 14 student employees right now, and I would never imagine trying to date one of them.

I'm not letting myself envision a future with Sherrill at all. That dude is going to be expensive, plus I only see him going to a proven winner. We need a successful season in the worst way.

This thread is jinking to what seems to be a different kind of recruiting. Can we just go back to criticizing each others' opinions on which players would never want to play at Indiana under different coaches that were fired or let go? Or how many millions of dollars more we will need to just be slightly above the bubble for the NCAAT in '27? How about that starting center at U of Dayton that entered the portal? Since we all know the successful pipeline from Dayton to IU.

What I don't understand is that everyone knows we are desperate for some talent, so we have to overpay, except for our staff. Agents know this. I feel like we are penny pinching sometimes when it is time, or maybe that was just the case for Estellia. But we had an in for him, we did everything to land him, and then we balked at the price. Sherril sure does have a lot of schools on his list for a do-not-contact tag. Duke and Michigan St scare me for him. Hopefully, good news is coming soon
