Agree, but, and maybe I’ve just been brainwashed by the relentless drumbeat of shameless SEC media bias, I’m convinced that if they lose Saturday they are absolutely not getting in while at least 1 3-loss SEC team almost certainly will.

Do yourself a favor and turn off ESPN. We're ranked #5 for a reason. The committee isn't just pulling random names out of thin air when selection day arrives. The only way I see us not getting in is if we get absolutely embarrassed at OSU and then win ugly over Purdue, and even that might not drop us 8 spots.

SEC coaches that have two losses already are doing what they're supposed to do. Beg for sympathy from a committee and try to convince them that a Cignetti coached football team isn't worthy enough to play in the playoffs. 

The IUFB ESPN SOS is an outlier compared to other systems.  IUFB is sitting in between 55-65ish in all of the other systems.

Bottom line, being 1 of 3 schools remaining in the unbeaten ranks and accomplishing it with a P4 schedule is a worthy team to play in a 12 team playoff. Period. 

Most importantly, they aren't ranked high enough!  But when they roll into Columbus and take care of business the ESPN SOS narrative is all but gone and the SEC coaches can cannibalize themselves.

I am really tired of Finebaum trashing non-SEC team schedules. I looked at the top six SEC team schedules, and they aren't impressive when playing non-SEC teams. A&M lost to Notre Dame. UGA beat Clemson, but so what? Clemson is really down this year as is the whole ACC. Alabama beat Wisconsin which lost their QB in the first quarter.  The top SEC teams are beating each other and that looks impressive to the pollsters, but they aren't getting any signature wins outside of the conference.

They also only play 8 conference games instead of 9 for the B1G and B12. That helps prevent them from beating up on each other as much.

Its weird to me that when people have talked about IU and our SOS that people bring up the past. Russilo was talking about Texas being in the CFP last year and that should count to something. We beat the two teams from last year's national championship game, yet that counts for nothing. I don't think it should. But you can't bring up Texas being in last year then not bring up Michigan and Washington being in it

 

Also can talking heads stop throwing Clemson in talks? That program hasn't been relevant since Lawerence, and its great

So before the season began, everyone looked at IU and said they brought in a bunch of lower end talent so wouldn't be good this year. Now that they're winning, they "bought" a team.

Between the returning players from a 3-9 team last year plus all the Group of 5 transfers coming in, IU was selected at or near the bottom of the B1G entering the season. I remember and I'm sure the coaches and players remember too. 

Of course, IU wasn't on Tuberville's radar before the season so he just sees a 10-0 team ranked ahead of many teams from his beloved SEC and that they brought in a bunch of transfers. This while ignoring that IU was out spent in NIL by the teams he thinks should be above them. Those are some sour grapes he's eating.

Lmao at IU being used as the example of a football team that was “bought.” Like half of our 31 transfers came from JMU, and only 6 of them came from P5 schools. We bought so much talent in the portal that we were picked to finish 17th in the conference.

The media won’t stfu about IU’s “weak” schedule but remains completely silent about Texas’s schedule. Texas’s best win is what, a 3 point road win against Vanderbilt? Texas got crushed at home by Georgia. Swap the uniforms and they’d be talking about how Texas has crushed everyone it’s played. 

Throw notre dame in too. Notre dame’s loss at home to a MAC team doesn’t keep them out of the playoff, but we should be kept out if we lose on the road to OSU.

Penn State as well. Pretty much the only difference between their schedule and ours is that they've already played O$U -- which we do this weekend. Hell, they struggled to beat Bowling Green and needed OT to beat Southern Cal, which is now 5-5.

They love moving the goalposts and trying to set a narrative against IU.  It’s always been “next week” with us dating back to the UCLA game.  Now they are almost out of next weeks with only OSU and the worst team in college football between us and the playoffs.  They are now trying to make this an elimination game for us when any bigger football school would get a pass for losing on the road to OSU.  Funny thing is if we win OSU will still be “safely in” with a good loss while an IU loss will mean we got exposed.

I think Cig and this team have the mindset of...just win and you shut everyone up. We were picked to finish bottom half of the big ten, now we bought players, easy schedule, blah blah blah...
