Lose a top-5 road game by 1 point and drop to seven spots? And teams playing cupcakes move up... I can see why teams avoid these big non-con games. The upside/downside is out of whack. Who knows with the AP poll, but it’s meaningless. Urban was talking about the committee yesterday and kind of hinting at the fact that they won’t hold a game like that against either team. Precisely because they—the tv networks (which fund the CFP)—want these games. It’s fun to see a Ryan Day team collapse, but as long as Texas is good it’ll be fine on their resume. If they come to IU and lose a close one, they could still drop one more and get in most likely. Pagoda and Demo 2 Quote
Demo Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This occured to me last night: Isn’t Arch Manning Drew Allar? Aren’t they basically the same guy? Allar went, what, 3rd round and Manning’s gonna go top 5? Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Interestingly, FPI isn't all that high on Texas's win, moving them back down to #2, and putting OSU back at #1. And I can actually understand that. Pagoda 1 Quote
Home Jersey Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Ryan Day is the Nick Saban of James Franklins, lol For real though, he coaches like such a coward sometimes for having all that talent on his roster. He is 1-3 in his last 4 games. Oklahoma fans must be in shambles today. go iu bb, southsidehoosier, Pagoda and 1 other 4 Quote
HoosierReb01 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Also, IU at #3 overall on ESPN's FPI in efficiencies. 3rd on offense, 26th in defense (up about 60 spots from last week) and 20th on special teams. Quote
OliviaPope40 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 What would've made that game all that much better is if OSU was playing at home. Stuhoo and Tasmanian Devil 2 Quote

Lebowski Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Yesterday was a bad day for the Big Ten and might hurt some teams getting into the CFP. Let’s hope we don't see a 2 loss team get snubbed by a 3 loss SEC team during the selection. Quote

This would be insanity. They were in control for 3 quarters essentially until Day’s deficiencies as a coach showed up. Too conservative, offense abandoned the run, defense did not blitz or put pressure on manning. Day played not to lose then they miss another big kick in the clutch. They will be better by the time we see them in October but our coach/staff far superior to theirs. Quote

His overall record against the top 5 is something like 3-7 I believe I saw. Going for it on 4th down instead of taking 3 points on the road was dumb. Ultimately that and some very conservative offense and defense in half 2 cost them the game. He coached not to lose. Sayin missed a sure TD, JS had two key drops, and they put their D in a horrible position in that heat to play essentially an entire quarter at the end of the game. Without another WR to step up teams are going to dare them to throw or run but blanket 4. They will be better by 10/17. I expect we will be ready. Home Jersey and cthomas 2 Quote

cthomas Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Manning running around with all day to throw and then taking a sack in the first half tells me all I need to know about him. Just throw the ball away. I wasn't overly impressed by either team last night. OSU definitely lost that game vs Texas winning it. One of the worst coaching jobs I have ever seen. So much talent on that team and the coaching is holding them back. skhoosier2 1 Quote

Also have said his talent normally bails him out because of said coaching deficiencies. However, what is going on right now with his address being posted on X and fans overreacting is just disgusting. OSUFB is still a good team that is likely to make the playoffs. They may come to town and beat us. When he lost to UM he was receiving death threats. His kids were harassed mercilessly at school. People really need to get in touch with reality. It's a football game...entertainment. These kids and coaches are real people with lives and families. There are far worse things going on in the world that harassing a coach or calling for his head after this loss is crazy. It's always ugly after a loss but the things that are being said about the team/Day are ridiculous. They usually don't have this hard of schedule and seems like there is mass panic that they may lose to us/USC/Michigan and miss the playoffs. I think it's one more loss and make the playoffs. Too early for panic. cthomas, BannerVille, Home Jersey and 1 other 4 Quote
