Does anyone have an update on where we stand with assistants and potential transfers? Been out of town, trying to monitor the different threads…

Sounds like yes to Norton, Frazier & Ostrom unlikely, Barnett?

If Barnett doesn’t get a HC job nick davidson from Nevada is connected to him

Fun fact.  I was a student when Edwards hit that shot.  Gave my dad my tickets under the basket where he hit that shot.  Time of his life.  :)

And Jay used to show up at our parties, which unfortunately was probably a bad sign.

Was fortunate to see the 93 IUvMU game.  Not sure I will ever experience that setting ever again.  Loud isn’t descriptive enough, and it was from intros to the end.  Lucked into seats right behind the UM bench.  My new bride kept asking me who was farting (hilarious), it really did stink.  And aside from the game itself I will always be amazed at how the fab dudes treated Fischer. Man, they were harsh to him.  If you ever find the time, that’s a classic one to watch…should have hung another banner that year.

Moved to Bloomington in 75 as a little kid, and left after graduating IU in '88.

As I think you can tell from that time span, yes, I am responsible for our 3 National Championships.

You're welcome.

Now that I'm getting all proper credit, the guy that most blew me away during that span, I Thomas. Dude was such a cold killer, when RMK took the leash off and let him run the floor, he and the team were just unstoppable.

After that into the 90s watching from afar, Cal, Henderson and Vic are my favorites,

Try stopping any one of them.

Same, I was born in 1972, so I got a full glimpse of what Indiana can be.  Fond memories of the 87 team and hope we get back to those glory days.  I think DDV is the right person for this spot, to get u back in the right direction.

You just had to show  a pic from that game, huh?  So depressing, that team was legit, but ‘ol’ Roy had the General’s number….

Good evening to all,

I assume most of you have been anxiously anticipating my reaction to the hiring of our new coach; Darian DeVries.

As you may know, my relationship with Coach Woodson was very strong.

He's a great friend of mine.

With that being said, I do believe that over the last four years, we witnessed the worst basketball coach in the history of the game..

I love Mike, he's a great man, and his wife makes a frighteningly tasty pot pie; but I can not lie to you all, and that is not what I will do.

As for our new coach, DeVries was not my first choice.

Archie Miller was, and is the answer.

I liked a few candidates..

Andrew Toole from Robert Morris University, Darris Nichols from La Salle University, Brette Tanner from Abilene Christian University, and Doug Gottlieb from the University of Green Bay Phoenix were absolutely scorching at the top of my hot board.

The night before the hire was announced, Jeff Rabjohns snuck down the chimney of my Bloomington log cabin home, sh*t in my bed, and I was awoken to his cold hands moisturizing my torso with sugar-free honey.

He whispered into the darkness of my bedroom; "Archie's coming home, Ricky.."

So to say this hire surprised me, is an unbelievable understatement.

Bring back Jordan Geronimo, and my negativity will flee.

Bow to me, I am the Barrel.

Thanks for trying to bring Archie Miller back.  He could walk on water if it was frozen.

And thanks for not lying to us.  Never crossed my mind.

Roll another one...Just like the other one...This one's burned down to the end...

Comon be a real friend.

Check out the Rhode Island message board sometime.  It’s like they are copy and pasting our problems.  Dude simply can’t build a winner. He can run one but he can’t build one

I understand what you are saying.   His time at IU was not productive.

He had to go.  Seems we are in agreement there.

I do have a slightly different opinion on Archie Miller and his coaching.  Contrary to some posts on this site, he did rebuild Dayton's team after Brian Gregoy left the cupboard bare.  He also did a good job of getting the best out of his players at Dayton.

I have repeatedly stated that it is my opinion that he did not get support that even Woody got from the IU Administration.  Critically, he did not have the floor general that all teams need.  (Since then, the IU Administration has learned to allow a new coach to bring in players from his previous school.

Rhode Island may just be a tough place to build a team. They have won their conference twice in the last 40+ years.  And they reached the NCAAT twice in the last 20.  What a bunch of anonymous posters say on a fan site is not necessarily a great source of compelling facts.

Except for Btown Banners, of course.

It is always the coach's fault.  Right?

Looks at IU Trustees that forced Woody on the team...so who's fault is the recent performance of IU men's basketball team?
