Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach

Not to be a party pooper.

Woodson's offense scored 112.4 pp/100 this year. The offense drives people crazy. Everyone's expecting things to get much better. I hope they do.

DeVries has coached 7 seasons. 6 at a much lower level of competition. Only one of his offenses has been better than this year's IU offense.

Not trying to be negative. There's a LOT of growth necessary.

I'm hoping (but not expecting) that IU goes the coordinator route.  An assistant coach that specializes in defense, another that specializes in offense, and one that is great at skill development. A GM to be the recruiting expert.

So petty along with others on here. If any one thinks we met with Brad once early on I don’t know what to tell you. This place sucks.

A couple questions for you about Dusty, if you don’t mind.  Do you think Dusty signed the extension because we/he thought we had Brad?  Do you think there’s any way we could have gotten Dusty?

I'm certainly not a scout/talent evaluator or a recruiter by any stretch lol.

He doesn't look overly quick. But can really shoot it.

and if DeVries system focuses on shooting the 3 ball seems like this kid would find a role...

I can't love this hire enough. I watched WVU a few times this year and this guy is intense. He really gets after it with his players, high energy guy on the sidelines.
So excited to follow this program again now that we have a college basketball coach who puts in the work to recruit.
Let's purge our roster, get a coaching staff in place, and build through the portal.
Tim crean 2.0? Great if he is winning crowned on if not

For me? It's nothing personal. I just don't want anymore continuation of Archie or Woody. Exceptions are Jordy and Calbert.

Jordy and Calbert are extensions of Crean and Knight. I've got no problem with them being here. Same goes for Barnett (Crean).

I know this is in jest, and Brad has to do what he thinks is best for himself. However, I am an IU fan, so I say Brad can shove a basketball right up his Mass-hole as far as I'm concerned. I want people that want to be at Indiana University, not some prissy NBA weiner that was always a bridesmaid as a coach, so ran and hid in the front office.

You sure handle rejection well.

If it makes you feel any better, Stevens will probably never coach college ball again.

“University of Indiana”…..after three years here???!!  LOL, LOL

I’d bet a decent pile of change that MR will be playing for Miami next season.

Hope he remembers to call it 'The U' and not 'The M'.

And now I've heard that apparently Dolson and DeVries got acquainted while in the Bahamas. DeVries has known the IU job was opening this spring and he and Dolson have been in communication since.

Turns out Dolson really did get "his guy."

I don't have verification of this but it would line up with other things I've heard.

If that is true that makes the whole hiring worse because it would mean we didn’t entertain better coaches.

That simply is silly.  National Championships just don’t happen.  Brad Stevens has exactly zero NCAA Championships.  Chris Beard, zero.   Will Wade, yep zip.  Bruce Pearl, none.  So who you getting that has proven National Championship potential.  Those were the “whales.”  No guarantees any would win a Natl Championship.  None of them were coming

DeVries was one of the best non-whale options.  He’ll get us consistently in the dance, and work from there.  It’s a process.
Hopefully he can win here. Yes correct the people listed haven't won one. Wayne is correct devries is a hope. Not to big of deal so long as we ready to win big!

Thank you that’s what I needed. Once a troll always a troll.

Thanks for passing along what you hear! Coaching searches are wild.

You'll have to give us the inside scoop when the new coaching staff gets things going.
