Demo Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 https://x.com/_SVPod/status/1853134329943044457 SVP is dead right here and that’s why I’m gonna be so annoyed Tuesday when IU is 11 or 12. You can say whatever you want about the schedule, there are no 17-14 games in there. They’ve hammered everyone. MemphisHoosier and Stuhoo 2 Quote
Jeff Flabjohns Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Woah, love that were up to 8. Didn’t expect to get above ND or BYU, even though we should. PSU should be lower than us too. Just keep winning! southsidehoosier 1 Quote
steubenhoosier Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 Notre Dame is in on reputation only. Their one quality win, over Texas A & M, is losing its luster after the Aggies lost their 2nd game yesterday. They also finish the season v Texas, so most likely will be a 3 loss team. The Irish’ second best win, Navy, was just beaten handily by 3-6 Rice. ND will likely end the season v USC who might very well have a losing record. I just don’t see anything that jumps out to justify ND as a playoff team. Add their home loss to NIU, who has gone 2-4 since beating the Irish, and they just aren’t that impressive. It's too early to be mad, but I have a feeling it'll get on my nerves at least. Telling myself that as long as we take care of business Saturday, we'll get a big bump heading into the OSU game. I can’t be annoyed because we, IU…the Indiana Hoosiers, are going to be IN the conversation. And I know that annoys so many OSU and Michigan fans as well as other programs who have huge football egos. I’m just going to smile and gloat. :))) Naturalhoosier, Artie86 and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

JerryYeagley23 Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Bare with me here. And to preface, I couldn’t be more excited about the IU football team and this season. And I’m in no way doubting them or their ability to compete at the highest level which is an incredible statement. BUT… was thinking about this new landscape with the expanded playoff. Do we think that there’s a possibility that finishing in the 9-12 range might be getting a little bit of a shaft from the players perspectives? I mean, great you made the playoff, huge accomplishment. But say you then “get to” travel to play a road game at Texas and lose. Is that lessor than the experience of playing in a premier bowl game and the week-long buildup and neutral warm weather site? Would winning the gator Bowl or Citrus Bowl be a bigger event for the program? Obviously the dream scenario is winning the first playoff game and getting to a Rose Bowl or Orange Bowl. But it feels to me like this might be a downside to the new system is rewarding our best season ever with an extra away game. Heck even if we get to host, it’s not a bowl game, it’s an extra home game in Bloomington in January. Anybody else feel this way at all? Artie86 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote

No. I think this team will embrace the challenge and at the very least, the opportunity to play for a national championship. Coach Cig as well. I get what you’re saying, but tell Cig and the boys that they “get to” travel to play a road game at Texas and lose. If you make the playoff, you’re in the freakin’ show! You got a chance to get (or stay) hot and go win the whole shabang. Their mindset will be to go stomp a hole in everybody’s azz until they stop putting opponents in front of them. A thing that the playoff did that could be considered a negative is turning bowls into even more of a meaningless exhibition than they already were. Guys will - rightfully - opt out to prep for the draft and the game just becomes half going away party for some and a development game for others. I still love bowl season, always will, but if you give me the choice between making the playoff and going to the Citrus Bowl I’m taking the shot at winning a national title all day every day without a second thought. I'd kind of like to see a football game in Bloomington that late in the year. The buildup and atmosphere for the game could be special. If it was a road game, still an incredible feather in our cap to say we made the CFP. thebigweave and hoopsta007 2 Quote
