My brother, you really don't change, do you? You were saying we appeared to be aiming low a couple weeks ago, and then we landed 6 P5 transfers a few days later. You can't go by reported interest on Twitter, my man. Have some faith!

It’s not about me. I didn’t say we were aiming low weeks ago. I said we weren’t  gonna spend on the top tip guys (Haralson, Bidunga, etc). However with Sherrell and Burton we spent big money to get those done. So, I guess it’s a partial L for me. The “last 3 spots plan” has been talked about starting with Rabjohns then reverberating around the IU social media industry.  I hope it’s not the plan. I’m withholding hope they reconsider.  I see nothing to change my opinion yet.  I guess we will see.

....It's funny how some posters seem to "know" privileged information, like how much NIL $ we actually started with have and how much we have currently have left. GM Carr's "No Leak" policy covers a broad scope. I wouldn't be surprised if Coach DeVries and Carr already know who that want.

And when they do "know" it always has a negative slant to it.

Fair.  Rabjohns and Carr are close friends. I feel like Rabjohns posted that article/post at that time for a reason. Then all the assistant coaches started pumping up the freshman.

It’s a message board, without speculation it’s not as much fun.

I obviously like this roster WAY better.  The enthusiasm is up.  We are knocking on that top 25 door or even in. That’s all I wanted out of the offseason.

Am I being greedy and want more?  Sure. Do I think we are taking some risks? Of course. It’s sports. I’m gonna enjoy it no matter what and we’ve at least made ourselves competitive which is the start.

“partial L”. That’s a new one

Well. Lol

It’s not a total L because we shut down the big asking prices of Haralson, Juke Harris, and Bidunga out of the gate.

The Sherrell recruitment made it interesting, and maybe because of what happened with JP Estrella. We wanted Sherrell and we did what it took to get him.  Probably paying him near Bidunga prices.  So that makes it a partial L.  lol.

You know this how?

We might be better in the front-court having Samet and Sherrell for 7 million compared to Bidunga (5m) and X for the same total price.

Also, pass on Haralson for whatever high amount he commanded. That money, # of shots was better spent on Burton.

We still spent huge $. They chose how to allocate it for a complete team.  Players also choose where they go when the money is close enough.

Definitely not to take anything away from the staff for sure up to this point I think they’ve done pretty darn good but you just want to see them finish the race.

If the $20 million spent on this roster so far is accurate then it would be great to see them spend enough on the last three players so that this team can make a deep run in the tournament next year.

The longer it goes on that we don’t sign those last three player the more chances are that the quality is going to go really far down.
I hope not and I hope they have a secret plan in place and will surprise us all.

I would like to think they were waiting for the portal to close to see who was left or if anyone got in late.

Very well could be, but I’d rather like to think with our new GM etc., that we would’ve targeted exactly who we want and get them signed.

Proof will be in the pudding for the last spots but it's at least clear the staff did target the key guys they got. Lots of time left to select players from the portal for remaining spots now that it's known who is in. We're all impatient, but there's no need to rush here.

Sherrell > Bidunga. Sherrell is far more skilled, and if I had to choose every time, I’m taking Sherrell without hesitation.

Haralson is athletic, but not a strong shooter. I’d rather have Darren Harris and Lindsay—both proven shooters who’ve played on NCAA Tournament teams.

Burton is an elite in-state guard. Instead of chasing someone like Juke, who’s unlikely, it makes more sense to prioritize a former Mr. Indiana Basketball and one of the top guards in the portal. He’s a great fit for our system.

If I squint hard enough, I can see how Sherrell is a better get than FloryCory.

If I squint really, really hard, I still cannot see Lindsay or Harris being a better get than Haralson.

Uhhh, before anyone gets worked up 1 way or the other about computer/expert rankings you might want to ponder the above for a moment and let’s just see how the team plays when the time comes.

You can wait and you can also wait too long.
Just seems like with all the tape they’ve been studying for quite some time now that zeroing in on your target,  getting in and getting out of the portal would be a really good thing.
i’m sure that’s why I don’t get paid the big bucks but at the same time we’re talking about a fan base who is used to getting burned. :(
