Do people have a preference for federiko vs Miller? I feel like Miller has more potential but Federiko knows his established role as a rebounder and lob threat and has at least proven himself at texas tech last year

I think Fede could potentially be a nominal “center” vs B1G 10 competition but Miller is probably too thin/light for that role. His skill set more nearly resembles Bailey’s.

I think with how DeVries runs his offense we might only get 3 big men… Curtis and two additional over 6 ft 10 with alot of 6 ft 8- 6 ft 9 guys because most of the time Tucker will play offense at 3 and defense at the 4. He will play 30 plus minutes a game so there isn’t a big need for a ton of 5’s especially with Reed. It could even be Reed, Curtis, and one other 5 either Miller or Texas tech kid

Stay on topic this is the little 500 memories or Cant remember thread

Probably the Can't Remember thread as in I didn't attend IU, but did go to one Little 500 and don't remember anything from my first drink till I woke up in an apartment somewhere in town the next morning.

The Bailey pickup was early and now seems to be the one piece that may not fit, defensively at least. But he’s talented enough and we didn’t have any commits yet, so you had to take him at the time.

With that said…it’s not necessary to have a rim protector to play good defense. Play like Bo Ryan or Tony Bennett teams and stay in front of your man, keep them out of the lane, deny the post and rotate like hell out of it, and you can still have a good defense. I don’t know if that is CDD’s style or not.

But right now after you slot in Tucker defensively at the 4 and two mid major guys not known for their defense at the other wing spots, having a guy who isn’t a plus-defender at center seems to be a big gamble going into the season. I’m really curious as to 1) how they round out the roster, and then 2) juggle those mins next season.

The most important thing is defense / rebounding, and I haven't watched any film to judge either, but it's worth noting that Miller had nearly three assists a game. Really good for a big and seems to fit the DeVries system.

Miller's a better shooter, too, as seen in threes and especially free throws. If defense and rebounding is close, I say Miller.

I really do think they would compliment each other. Federico is the rebounding rim protector lob threat and Miller is the skilled big/wing who can shoot and pass and run the floor. Would love to get both.

Baba Miller is a slightly less successful version of Reed Bailey. That's a good thing to be, but that's what Miller's skill set would bring.

do we really have a shot with any of these bigs or are we just throwin' names out there?

Why not? Apparently, we still have money to offer and it would certainly  appear we have playing time to offer as well. Those are two of the three things that most kids in the portal are looking for.. the third thing- an opportunity to win is yet to be determined. Obviously fit matters as well, but I consider that part of an opportunity to play.

I tend to agree. Mobile bigs that fit the system designed to get out and run.

Ah that sounds so, so much better and more fun that the last 4 years, and really 8.

IKR! I love how he’s running this program to start and have full faith in him. I personally don’t care about the rankings because he is building this thing up the right way

Are you including Bailey? I am fine with 2 (defensive) centers. I am not convinced Bailey is one of those though.
