Yeah he’s being very meticulous, which is 100% good.
But it’s clear he wanted Conwell. Hopefully we didn’t lose him to UL because DDv didn’t want to match a 400k difference in NIL.

Having a top-rated transfer class is important given he was able to achieve that last year and our empty roster. I trust him completely to not just throw $$ at “stars” like Woody.

Having TDv hopefully healthy for the whole year already raises our floor—kid is obviously a helluva player.

What does this mean then regarding Pack and IU?  Are we checking out a few options that are better than him first then coming back and expecting him to still be there?

I would hope Pack is the last player we contact.

He's lost a single portal battle for a player who I don't think is all that enthralled with IU to begin with. Conwell's been offered plenty of money to attend IU spanning two different staffs and has chosen elsewhere both times. I want guys that want to be here. Period.

I’m guessing his dis-interest in previous cycles was motivated heavily by the coach and offensive philosophy. It’s been negatively recruited against repeatedly and I’d estimate we’ve lost several guys because of it. No way to really know though of course.

Perhaps. But I also don't think Conwell has ever cared for IU either. If IU wasn't throwing a bunch of money in his face, I doubt he'd even consider. Not every kid from Indy dreams of playing for IU, especially ones that are 18-22 years. Both of Conwell's parents are Purdue alums.

Good point AH1971, maybe  he grew up hearing lots of negative IU chatter similar to a lot of Purdue sentiment on here and he’s biased against IU.

This is an important list for all of us to keep in mind. I have a feeling if we had Louisville or UK’s transfer classes last year we would all be very underwhelmed and skeptical.

Crazy seeing Tonje, Oweh, Donaldson down there but yeah—so much of this is about fit.
FWIW UK had a stacked class last year (by rankings)

What's the amount Indiana Basketball receive in revenue sharing?

$16 million - Indiana Football

$ 6 million - Indiana Basketball

$1 million < remaining amount - Indiana Women's Basketball?

Starting July 1st, collectives can't be used to pay players going forward. However, they can have private NIL to athletes.

I'm not really sure, There is a chance we're not looking at him at all. I haven't heard his name much on our side

@AH1971 Pack is your 5th-best starter/6th man on a good team kinda guy. But, being able to make shots, open shots still matters.

Why would you pay the kind of money he's going to command for a 5th/6th guy? Making shots does matter. As does playing playing defense, playing team ball, etc

There's a reason why Pack has played for losing teams in 4 of the 5 years he's been in college and has essentially ended the careers of two different coaches.

As Dakich would say, "He's just good enough to get you fired".

I am not paying him any money. How do you know how much he's asking for?

Nijel plays team ball. Nijel didn't end anyone's career, crazy assertion lol
