Pathetic it's being portrayed as if Woody has a choice in the matter. The man is getting fired, forced out, whatever you want to call it but he certainly isn't sitting around his office contemplating a damn thing. 
Just fire this idiot already and get it over with. 

It fits the narrative we have been told. They are trying to protect his ego and his image far more than they would an ordinary coach who wasn't bestie with a high trustee and a beloved former player. Nobody is going to see this and think woodson decided on his own

He was old and semi retired when they made the mistake of hiring him and knew he had friends protecting him, and probably figured he'd just be worshipped because he played here.

This is still IU that hired Mike Davis when IU was generally still considered a top 10 program to maintain continuity.  They also self reported.  Are we really that surprised at how much IU can screw this up?  
 

From a PR perspective I heard they are scared of firing him for the optics after Archie.  Trying to make it as soft as possible to not negatively impact recruiting for the next coach, which uh….  We have been there for a minute for anyone with eyes.  Heard the PR, firing, retiring BS from 2 people I trust.

They probably should push for an immediate resignation. Woodson is petty enough to take a lot of jabs at the fan base and administration.
