And generally the optics probably look better. Only in extreme circumstances do they make that move. I think midseason firings may start to happen more often now with the portal being a big factor. Teams that are out of contention and won't be in the tournament want to get a jump start on recruiting portal players. But we probably won't start seeing that for another month at least. OSU fired Holtmann in mid-February. Don't be surprised if we see a few coaches let go in late February/early March. If we're sub-.500 in the Big Ten by then, maybe we make the move. go iu bb, thebigweave and Parakeet Jones 3

That's a legitimate point. The landscape has changed dramatically. The portal is also the reason you can win Big and quickly now. Unfortunately a 6 million dollar portal team means nothing with a mediocre coach. But this is also IU whose had a dysfunctional administration the past 25 plus years. Let's hope after Woodson is gone we make serious changes.

More like ran off the court imo. Don’t forget Reneau is coming back so more 2 big lineups are coming. This Maryland game is their best chance at a win over the next stretch of games until UCLA.

IU’s disaster in recruiting the last twenty years is crazy and helped many a coaches outside Indiana. And Woody is as bad as any of them. Matta and Beilen specifically have title game appearances off the backs of stud Indiana players. Bennett too. Izzo, K, and Roy have had good team’s (can’t reminder those specific ones made a FF) with stud Indiana recruits. That’s not even counting the ones who went to instate programs under Painter, Brey, etc.. It’s not realistic that IU would’ve got all those guys with a Stevens or somebody similar at the helm, but getting even our fair share would’ve taken some shine off a few resumes. I’m sure there are a few coaches out there who can see the writing on the wall if IU gets a good coach. Dusty May can probably do the math because I’m sure he has his eye on at least northern Indiana, as UM has successfully recruited there the last 25 years. I’m guessing most that post in here are done with college basketball and don’t really watch and go by box scores the next day. OSU is a pretty damn good team, with their primary weakness as rebounding and defending the interior. In other words - tailor made for us to exploit with our consistently best player, Oumar Ballo. Then, OSU's best interior player and rebounder (though not a post), Devin Royal, missed the game, which was 'fortunate'. So IU beat them ... in overtime. So while everything needed to break right for IU to win at OSU, it indeed did happen exactly that way. And we got a pretty damn good win. Uspshoosier 1

Yeah, it's ridiculous to think that with all the negative pub Woodson has been getting that coaches wouldn't know why he was fired if they fired him mid-season. Everyone who pays even a little bit of attention to college basketball knows. If they didn't know, a quick google would make it obvious.

Trish Posted January 24, 2025 Posted January 24, 2025 The Tank Train is asking for another L tomorrow vs Maryland. We need the students chanting "Fire Mike Woodson", we need loud boo's from the general folks there, we need a sloppy performance, we need Twitter to start rioting! A great beginning comes from a great suffering.
