Without a shred of doubt he's one of the best basketball coaches in the country.

I just do not see the IU admin, with a hard-nosed female President, take that chance.

There’s a 0.0% chance IU hires him, imo. If we make a good hire it won’t matter, but if we make another dud of a hire (which I fully expect), it’ll be infuriating knowing we could’ve had Beard.

Exactly how I feel.

Yea.  We hire him all the articles about our new coach will include a note about the DV allegations.  The pictures aren’t good if anyone looks at them.  Not what IU wants.

If he had another incident here, the people who took a risk on him may get fired.

Curious about how his "loyalty to Woodson" is anything but being complicit in the crapfest?

I’m sure loyalty to Woody plays some small part, but that’s not it. Cheaney’s a coaching dilettante. I don’t mean that as critically as it sounds, but he likes doing some of the stuff and he likes working with the kids and being around the game, but he’s not some grinder. He’s happy as a clam doing what he’s doing and he has no interest in doing more. That’s been his entire coaching career. Actually, you can probably argue that, as awesome a guy as he obviously is, having someone with his mindset on staff is a pretty clear indicator of a problem.

Yup. A school that cares about optics over winning to the extent IU does will definitely not take that chance.

And if they take a risk on another unproven coach and he doesn’t work out they’ll probably get fired.

Does failing on the basketball hire get you fired at IU? Really?
