He's concluded that good teams won't let you score in transition and tournament games always end up being played in the half court. He believes it's a waste of practice time to push tempo. That's not encouraging.

A much better philosophy would be "I recruit to my system, but adapt when I see players developing skills"

Also would be cool with, "I always look for a quick strike, but emphasize half court because tourney games end up being played in the half court."

Beard gets a lot of love due to his Bob Knight connection. He was an assistant coach or student manager or something at TT under Knight.

He did make the tourney in year 3 they just chose to cancel it before ius name would have been called.  Who knows what would have happened if that tourney plays out but IU was playing some good basketball.  The year after playing home games without fans was terrible and playing a top 5 SOS didn’t help either.   Archie was terrible but he coached 2 years at IU where no other coach in its history will have to deal with
