Otz- $15-20 million buyout + 6 yr $40mil roughly ~$55-60mil all-in

Stevens—already turned down 7 yr/$70 mil

I’m not a math guy but….

Looks like roughly $10mil per year for both, but since neither of us are math guys maybe we can get someone to run the numbers on that.  Steven’s doesn’t have the obstacle of having to come up with $20-25mil in year one.  We’ll ignore the whole time value of money thing too.

Somehow you picked one of the few guys more unrealistic than Stevens.

Otz is much more realistic candidate. He actually wants to coach college basketball and is currently doing so.

I keep hearing he just signed a huge extension with a huge buyout when I asked someone about him. Sounds like his agent is interested in listening. So not really realistic.

Stevens is the president of basketball operations for the most famed basketball franchise in the world looking to repeat.

Otzelberger is currently coaching college basketball.

There’s a better chance Woodson is retained than Stevens coaching IU next year.

Stevens is making 1.5 million. What is TJ making?

Because family, coming home, dream job, possibility of coaching his son and wanting to coach college ball again, that **** has nothing to do with it either huh?

The ghosts of Hoosier Basketball  Recent Past, Present, and Future.

The Phantom of  Assembly Hall (Woody Season 5)

to name just 2

Suppose there was a poster who defended Woodson until the middle of this season. Imagine if this post spent the summer banging his chest over the portal "win" and telling us how great Woodson is.

Now suppose this poster was telling everyone that no coaches anyone on this board is talking about would come to IU. If they did, they wouldn't do well. The best IU could do was Pitino Jr who would do a great job here.

I don't know about everyone else, but I wouldn't really place too much confidence in that poster's ability to evaluate coaching prowess. And pretty much no one on this board has any real idea which coaches would or wouldn't agree to coach at IU.

Where on Earth did I say Pitino Jr is the best IU could do? I literally said if you’re going to bring up mid-major guys like Calhoun and McCollum, Pitino Jr should be in that discussion as well. GD when did reading become a skill?

IU could hire Wade or Beard tomorrow and that’s likely the best they could do as those are two phenomenal coaches. I think Mick Cronin would strongly consider IU as well.

But if IU isn’t going to entertain somebody with some baggage, then it’ll be the up and coming/mid-major route. No sitting tenured P5 coach with a history of sustained success is going to jump ship for this fishbowl.  If that’s the route IU does go, Pitino should absolutely get a look.

Hell, the fans who wanted Woodson for a coach are a dying breed....literally.
Honestly some of his few supporters left are younger guys because to them making the tourney is a massive success.
