I have no inside info but I am concerned the Dusty May ship has sailed. Two possible explanations for our decision last offseason:

1. We passed on May because we were confident we had a big big catch lined up for when Woodson retired sometime in the next 1-3 seasons.

2. We passed on May because the powers that be actually thought Woodson was a better option than him to lead our program.

I want the truth to be #1... but that's not what my gut tells me

There was literally no demand for Woodson. If they thought that they might be even dumber than I thought, but it would explain the last 25 years of gross mismanagement.

I have been told (others have hinted), that the talk is that we can expect a starting lineup change tonight.

My prediction ...

Woody trots out Rice, Malik, Gallo and Ballo.

Ref: Coach, we need a fifth.

Woody, knowing the end of his tenure is near: My team's on the floor.

We play with four guys the entire game and get beat 136-40. Woody is given $400 for cab fare to the local Hertz and told to rent a car and drive home.

I have not heard of a timetable yet but yes I think there is a good chance of that. I don't think Woodson will coach at home again. I think the rumors are true and there is a plan going forward after tonight.
I'm getting my hopes up but this reminds me of last year and the Bruce Pearl rumors.... then all of a sudden "Mike Woodson will return for his 4th season"

Not questioning you at all... I'm just nervous as hell!

There was a tweet that Dolson wanted him last year and QB got involved - again.  I’m guessing Dolson told May to give him one more year.  Hence the buyout.

allegedly May chose UM over Louisville bc Louisville wouldn’t agree to the buyout.

UM was desparate to get back on track; hence why they agreed to it.  Usually those buyouts are like 20mm+.

if May doesn’t end up at in this offseason, his buyout will change with UM.

We would get so many more deflections each game

That’s more than what we get now!  Lol

That's why God invented Brinks trucks...

I really think Dolson is spending more time with Donors and lining up NIL than a candidate list right now.  This has been a year plus in the works.  He knows who he wants and has buy-in from those parties.

Im sure Brad wants to get past the NBA trade deadline in February. If for some reason he bails again, it’s all in on Dusty.

Brad S - Just does not seem likely at this point BUT not saying I am not sitting here with my fingers and toes crossed lol

McCollum - In the Cignetti mold as far as his record....not sure why he has not received bigger offers yet....seems like we would miss one if we don't grab him

May - Go for it. I guess it just seems strange if he would leave a program like Michigan after 1 year to rebuild our program but maybe he does have that kind of love for IU....Hope so!

May could be what Woodson told us that he was going to be/do ... but legitimately and on a long-term track... rebuild the program, restore the shine, unite the fan base and restore blue-blood status...

And I do like McCollum as option C, behind Stevens and May.

Yeah except if he's a Purdue guy, then we're still effed lol

Well he is from Jasper and he was at the Illinois game the other night so who knows where his allegiance lies.

I can’t seem to decipher the DM buyout. It starts at 5mil then goes down to 4 after one year. Not sure if that’s a season or calendar year. Either way, it’s peanuts for IU. That said, now I’m hoping it’s Brad just for the epic meltdown that would occur across the B1G if we actually landed the great white buffalo.

I have to wonder if something happened to the team internally right before the Iowa game. I thought the previous 3 games we played better and actually played hard in those games. It all disappeared in the Iowa and UI game

No... what happened is "the ball was tipped"...

If anything we have learned over the past few years that money/NIL alone can't buy you wins.

You still need someone who is the stage of his life of being willing to work hard, and has the drive to be a winner.

I honestly don't care if it's Stevens, May, McCollum, Beard, etc. Just go get a guy who works as hard as the players he coaches and let's roll.

Ok just kidding I want Stevens more than the others.

Don't worry about it.  Whatever the amount is, I've already given Dolson my Capital One card number.

Will be interesting to see what that looks like, and who gets moved out/in that 5. Or if we trot the same group out for tip...

Way overdue, IMO

He doesn't have a little baggage.  He has an anchors worth.  She dropped the charges but he beat her up, choked her, left bruises and bite marks on her.  That isn't a "little drinking problem", that is a massive, "After 25 years of **** show you are taking a huge risk that I am going to do something that ends all of your careers, brings a really bad light on the University, and gets me fired" type of decision.

They will have pictures of what he did to that woman and will be laying them in front of a female President and saying, "This should be our guy....trust me."  It isn't happening.  The chance of that is likely less than the chance of them reanimating Bob Knight and hiring him.

If the IU admin wants to really fracture the fanbase, they'd hire Beard. That would not be a hire made to bring the fans back. Then if he didn't win big immediately? Wow, that would make this toxicity look tame.

Luckily, I just don't see any way IU would hire him anyways so this argument about whether or not he should be hired is moot.
