They overpaid for a hodgepodge of mercenaries in the portal because Woodson is too lazy to build a team himself. You can’t cut corners and expect to land on top. When all you have to sell to players is money, this is the result you get. A group of guys who don’t fit, who play with zero heart, and who don’t really care about being Hoosiers.

Yes, in a vacuum missing on any given target is not a huge deal, especially in the portal era. But missing virtually every priority target,  every cycle, forces you to just accept whatever you can get, without being intentional about how the pieces fit together. Because we are Indiana and all that comes with it, we’re able to land some top best available talent in unique situations every cycle. That’s masked much of Woody’s off court failures. There is no more covering for what we all can see with our eyes.
