Allen found his scapegoat of the week. Just once I’d like to see him step up and shoulder the blame.

This is why I don't buy the whole "great guy" perspective on him. I think it's a myth. Great guys aren't so quick to throw everyone else under the bus.

Might do more harm then good if Tom Allen stays one more year. I can’t imagine people showing to games next year if he stays.

Tom Allen’s buyout is $20 million. Let’s say he’d leave early for $15 million.

Now let’s deduct the $4 million that we’d have to pay the year after for the buyout anyway. So we’re down to $11 million.

10,000 less fans per game with CTA next year X $50 per customer = $500,000. Multiplied by six home games = $3 million in lost revenue versus getting someone in that can give the fanbase hope.

So we’re down to needing to raise $8 million from benefactors as our break even point. That’s a lot, but I’m reasonably sure that Dolson has done this Kelley School style analysis and is figuring out how achievable it is.

They already really don't show up. They could not even sell out for ohio state.

I can almost see it now ...

Nov. 25: @West Lafayette -- Purdue 47, IU 12 ... Hoosiers finish season 3-9 (1-8 B1G)

two weeks later ...
Dec. 9: @New York City -- Michael Penix walks up to the podium at the Marriott Marquis Times Square to accept the Heisman Trophy.

Honestly the most difficult part is a replacement. There’s a reason the OC is who we have. No one wanted to come in and be a part of this.

The likelihood of luring someone who is able to make a difference is not great. I don’t mean “difference” as they’d be the same as current circumstances—rather an improvement to our usual 4-8. How do you lure a big name coach with the deck stacked against them? And if someone comes in and kills it, there’s no way they wouldn’t be poached when a big opening is in play.

Football is such a different animal for most of us. Small sample sizes with shorter seasons where talent is 90% and scheme is 10%. I’d be happy if the team didn’t look like it was cobbled together with mid-tier size and speed with a couple of decent players here and there. I don’t mean to trash our players either—I don’t lay the blame on them. I do question their motives in coming to play for IU sometimes…

And somehow performance is never included in these contracts as “cause”

Looking at those buy out numbers, we have to keep Allen for one more season....does his contract say he has to be the head coach? If not, delegate him to Defensive coordinator and hire another head coach now. If he doesn't like the demotion and raises hell, fire him for insubordination!

I agree. He’s not a Mel Tucker or a Kevin Wilson. And I’ve never met the guy, so I don’t have any insight into what he’s like in private. However, the public Tom Allen is nothing to gush about. At the least his public ‘leadership’ is very questionable.

The reason we couldn’t hire a good OC was that Tom was making them keep Darren Hiller as the oline coach and by that point, coaches started to see Tom Allen was in over his head and was getting exposed as a coach. No promising young coaches want to join a sinking ship.

If we are willing to pay $5M along with a good staff budget, IU should be able to find someone. Also, it sounds like Indiana will invest in Memorial Stadium renovations and a new weight room/football facilities. The administration should be able to sell a $5M salary, continued renovations, conference stability, and point to that if you build the program correctly you can win at Indiana(Kevin Wilson/Tom Allen success) Also, the Big Ten media money increases soon and Indiana’s coach will have advantages coaches in the Big 12 and ACC do not have.

The 2021-23 Indiana Hoosiers under coach Allen have been an unmitigated disaster.

That quotes sums it up

IU Traditionally/ History IU football program would do very well (not dominate) in the MAC trying to play in power 5 competition.

Buffalo  13       Akron 10

Nothing to lose now, it’s already been lost.  Tom Allen (after the dust settles…pride, hurt feelings and psyc damage) Tom Allen is doing awesome all $$$$$$$$ worth & a couple trips to a therapist and a good vacation….then at his choosing on time to his next gig.

How many more games until Tom Allen gets fired? Does he make it to the Purdue game?

If IU has any desire to be taken serious as a football program no way you don’t fire Allen if we continue to play this poorly.
