Popular Post Chris007 Posted March 25, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 25, 2022 I think I tried to buy some of Walsh's IU gear on Facebook marketplace at this time last year and now he's an assistant. MemphisHoosier, thebigweave, BtownStrength and 7 others 6 4 Quote

Funny story about him. During his first year I was at Archie’s first kids camp with my son and family. After the camp you can go down on the floor and get autographs and talk with the players and coaches. While the long for autographs was long I went over to him in the middle of the court and introduced myself and told him I knew who he was and started talking hoops. I told him I was glad he was a Hoosier and that this place would get loud and crazy. I warned him it would be way louder then Dayton even though Dayton is a great place to watch a game. Then out of no where my newborn daughter decided to pee through her diaper and all over mid court at assembly hall. The look on his face was priceless. Now he is an assistant coach. MyDRockHard Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 I love it. A couple young guys in Ya and Walsh make our coaching staff so much more relatable to this current generation. I imagine our recruiting is going to take off the next couple years lillurk and thebigweave 2 Quote

WayneFleekHoosier Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Seems everyone is happy. Good chemistry is most important, I suppose. So hopefully this is addition by subtraction because it surely isn’t addition by addition. Did we get an advantage in any recruiting circles with this move or improve our player development program? Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners HoosierAloha, AKHoosier and HoosierTrav 2 1 Quote
vemmeistars Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 Probably would've lost Ya without going in-house on the 3rd assistant spot. Losing Ya could've been devastating with access to the south and potential loss of Jakai Newton for 2023. GloryDays 1 Quote
Bowhunter Posted March 25, 2022 Posted March 25, 2022 I’m a little Surprised. Not saying it’s bad, just thought we might go for bigger name with big connections. Maybe Walsh is, I just never heard much on his background. Quote

What's wrong with IU taking advantage of the basketball resources they have by trying to maximize recruiting capabilities from the assistant coaches they hire and filling in any necessary gaps with consultants? Seems that the rest of the staff was vibing and it wasn't Woody going rogue all year with his old buddies. So who was the guy telling him to continue with the Stewart/Kopp lineup? :) BannerVille, MikeRoberts and jonz44 2 1 Quote
