Sounds like this is the last year: TDH story

"(Purdue AD) Bobinski told Carmin that two teams chose to opt out and strongly implied that those two teams were Indiana and Notre Dame."

I'm fine with this.

The tournament was actually good to IU with, as the article points out, some exciting memorable wins. I don't mind ending the Crossroads Classic if it means IU playing in better tournaments with wider national audiences. But I would rather see IU play Notre Dame or Butler every year than some of the cupcake teams they always seem to schedule in the pre-conference.

My vote is to resume an annual series with Notre Dame.

I'm glad to see it come to an end. Personally, it was an event that I really never found that appealing.

It could have been appealing in my mind if they made it a tournament just like Maui.  8 teams in 3 days.  IU,ND, PU, Butler, Ball St., Valpo, Indiana St., and Evansville.

Sounds like a big waste of IUs time when we could be playing Kansas or UNC or someone.

Each to their own,  I would have loved to have seen an in-state tournament.

Why not consider replacing it with a Midwest Classic? Kentucky, Cincinnati, Lousyville...there are a lot of possibilities. And rotate the teams so that each plays every two or three years.

I do believe I might live in Lousyville...

Hosting Jackson State as a part of Indiana’s exempt multi-team event next season that will also include games against Marshall and Louisiana Lafayette, per Jeff Goodman.

Jackson State finished last season 12-6 and No. 265 in the KenPom ratings. The Tigers are ranked No. 186 nationally in Bart Torvik’s ratings for next season.

What does exempt mean?  Exempt from what?
